June 6, 2015: 6 Days To The Dark Matter Premiere! Sneak Peek And Behind The Scene Goodies!

The excitement continues to mount as we approach the Dark Matter premiere, less than a week away (Friday, 10 p.m. on SyFy/Space)!  I’ll be live-tweeting the event with various to-be-announced cast members, pulling double duty with both the east and west coast airings.  Who’d like to join us?

  1. OK, some of these shots should so go into the calendar! wow,,I will need at least one of those along with a few t-shirts. I did see a mention of Dark Matter in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly. The countdown continues…

  2. I’ll take the Klingon looking weapon.

And the trip to Comic Con Syfy Australia has up for grabs.

  3. @josephmallozzi This is what it said in the Entertainment Weekly about Dark Matter “Six strangers and an android end up on a derelict spaceship. (Have they heard of Alien?)”

  4. Actually, I just thought of something… why is emergency lighting always red… the only color of the spectrum that always gives off an eerie and evil feel to it…

  5. Damnit! It turns out I’m going to be in Scotland for the premier and likely without any means of viewing it! 🙁 I will have to avoid spoilers until Tuesday when I’ll be able to watch it.

@Scott: I thought the same thing about emergency lighting. I’m not sure what colour emergency lighting is in real life (I suspect white) but I think a plausible explanation for using red is that red light doesn’t disrupt your night vision so if the emergency lighting fails then your eyes will already be adapted to the dark whereas any other colour would leave you in total darkness for several minutes while your eyes adapted.

  6. Love those pics and can’t wait for next Friday. I’ve been flogging this show to people like crazy – I hope they tune in.

@Scott: I *think* that emergency lighting is red because it’s the wavelength that affects your night vision the least- it’s much easier to see if it becomes totally dark. Also, DANGER, DANGER! 🙂

Now that I’ve got my renovations to the house I needed to do, done, I’m busy starting to pack stuff up which is going along well enough. So, I’m taking a bit of a break today and going to do some trail maintenance on the Fundy Footpath.

  7. I’ll probably join the tweet party. Gave up on local viewing party idea. Sorry I didn’t think of it sooner.

  8. Entertainment Weekly actually mentioned Dark Matter twice! In the Summer TV calendar they have the quote no1zoiepalmerfan gave. They also mention the show in the “What to Watch this Week” section.

“Amnesia for a single protagonist is well-worn narrative territory, so SyFy’s latest goes further. Six characters wake up on a mysterious spaceship without a clue of where they are. The intriguing premiere picks up from there, allowing the six blank slates to being coloring in the lines of their personalities. It’s tough to become attached to anyone just yet, but fun scenes of discovery and a twist ending should keep you interested for at least one more episode.”

    They gave it a B.

(This is from the print edition.)

  9. I have trouble Tweeting and watching at the same time. I miss too much of the show. As it is, I used to have to watch all episodes of SGU twice to get the nuances, subtle hints/clues, and see what was going on in the background. I found that I naturally focus on whomever is speaking and miss completely that there are other interesting things going on in the background.

  10. I would say coming from Entertainment Weekly that is a high compliment. They are pretty tough critics.

I probably will be back in time to tweet west coast time. Let’s break Twitter! #KardashianHasNothingOnUs I already have several people who didn’t know about the show who are now going to watch it.

The Space trailer was good, but I can’t wait to see this new one you are talking about.

I think this is the first time you’ll be live-tweeting! Love it.

As far as weapons, I’m drawn to the tridents for dual hands, but in reality, I couldn’t manage it as I’m far too much of a klutz. I’d have to kill people with kindness.

  11. Joe do you think you could live tweet with various cast members pulling double duty with both the east and west coast airings, AND keep a conversation going on this blog too? Come on, your talented, you can do it. Left hand on one computer, right hand on another. But I’m like MrsTigercat and will come around when the show is over.

  12. Hi Joe!

Just wanted to tell you that Dark Matter showed up in our local newspaper (The Columbus Dispatch) as one of the 10 programs worth watching this week (right in there with Game of Thrones!). Looking forward to Friday!!

    Stella

  13. @SiSi Thanks for the info…I actually have the print copy and only saw the part that I posted here….found the part you were talking about. I usually don’t look all the way through it when I first get it, so I didn’t see either one til I read on here that there was even anything about the show.

  14. Live tweeting is made easier if you have a bunch of the tweets all pre-written and scheduled to go out at a particular time. (HootSuite will allow you to do this easily.) Since you know the timing of the show already, you can write a lot of the tweets ahead of time and set them to go out at the right point during the show, and then you’ll be free to respond to the viewers’ Tweets as they come in.
