  1. Green Lantern: War Journal #8 – cover art by Rahzzah is fantastic!

On yesterday’s post: It was interesting reading about IP. These remakes/reboots seem to be tied to the culture wars. I just want to watch a good story and that seems to be a secondary concern for a few of these new movies. I want two hours (or around that) to forget wars, politics, protests or the way civilization seems to be deteriorating.
However, two hours of escapism from the world seems to be too much of an ask from the makers of current movies. That’s one reason I think Hollywood might be hurting. They don’t listen to what their audience wants, they insert content of what “they believe” the audience “should” want.

Another reason could be social media in young people. Most of their attention goes to a few different sm platforms. This new generation might not get involved in a show or movie like past gens did. Do you remember the feeling of waiting all week for a new episode of a favorite show? Good times, good times….

Misery was too hard for me to watch. The way she kept breaking his bones…. 🫢😬 . Misery is on my “too disturbing to watch” list, much like Deep Impact. That scene when Tia was holding her dad’s hand and the tsunami was approaching was just too hard for me to take. Hey, I laughed all the way through the gore of Cocaine Bear but Misery/Deep Impact really hit me on a emotional level that I can’t quite verbalize.

On my Nashville trip, we went to see the Godzilla movie. It was fun/silly but we enjoyed it. Plus, when we had dinner before the movie, our waiter (young guy) asked which movie we were seeing. I don’t think he was expecting Godzilla as our movie choice. He saw two “mature” ladies and probably thought romantic comedy or some such. 😆
