Well, that’s a wrap on Vancouver after 18 great years.  I came for the Stargate but stayed for, well, the Stargate, but eventually stuck around because it became home.  Now, however, it’s time to move on.  My some 200 boxes of books, comic books, and supervillain statues and toys shipped out on Sunday and, tomorrow, Akemi, Lulu, Suji and I catch a 7:20 a.m. flight out.  I had a great time in this wonderful city and will miss the many friends I leave behind.

So what awaits us in Toronto?  Perhaps a  fourth season of Dark Matter fraught with twists, turns, shocks, surprises, an alien invasion, an android insurrection, and answers to so many of the questions we’ve posited over the show’s first thirty-nine episodes?  Here’s hoping.

The show continues to put up strong numbers in delayed viewer numbers.  Once again, Dark Matter was tied for #1 among all cable shows with a 200% increase in the key demo, and it almost doubled its overall viewership.

I leave you with a few more BTS videos on Dark Matter –

Misaki Han (Ellen Wong) makes her grand entrance in “Kill Them All”, directed by Bruce McDonald.

Running through the Hyperion-8 prison riot with stunt coordinator John Stead.

Rehearsing the “Kill Them All” fight sequence with Android stunt double Jennifer Murray.  Directed by Bruce McDonald.  Stunt Coordinator John Stead.

  1. Great BTS videos 👍

    Safe trip for you all.
I’m hopeful the Season 4 pick-up news comes after Killjoys finale on Friday, for both shows. That’d be a fab way to begin your move back to Toronto.

  2. Joe, best of luck on your new adventure. I hope you hear about a fourth season for Dark Matter soon. With such great numbers why are they taking so long to make a decision?

  5. Good luck with the move. Too bad I never made it to Vancouver to hit you up for restaurant tips. Still, my girlfriend works for a company whose head office is in Chicago and they also have a Toronto office so maybe I’ll be in that neck of the woods one day. I’ll be wanting to know where to find the best pizza in Toronto at some stage!

  6. If I lived in Vancouver, I don’t think I could leave it. Beautiful beautiful city. Good luck in Toronto and safe travels.

  7. Wishing you all a safe and problem free move to Toronto. Good luck and happiness in your ‘new’ home.

Fingers still tightly crossed for that good news, that will surely, shortly come … 😊

  8. Vancouver simply will not be the same without you guys there. I’m excited for you guys for the change and the new direction that your lives are taking you, though. On to new adventures! Well, and more Dark Matter, of course! 🙂

Now that you’re within driving distance, you’ll have to come visit the Maritimes soon! 🙂

  9. I hope your journey to TO is a good one, Rest up while you can, that new season will need to be written!! Hugs to you all, best of luck..(now you will be in my time zone, all good)

  10. Wow – you’re really leaving. I’ll miss you, Akemi and the pups being on west coast time. But it’s great that you’ll be closer to family, and all the new and old friends you have.

I’ve been tweeting and retweeting my heart out for DM. I just don’t get SyFy. I guess no news is good news in some ways – maybe they’re having to reconsider the ratings. The show is fantastic! I can’t imagine next year without it.

I can’t wait to hear about your new life in Toronto, the adventures you’ll have, SEASON 4, and maybe even some new furry family members? 🙂

  11. Good luck with the big move. Be sure to wave hello when you fly over Saskatchewan. 😊

SYFY will renew Dark Matter. 👍

  12. Bye Joe, looking forward to reading more of your travels, but sad I won’t get to read more of the local food scene, and randomly run into you at Tacofino 😉

  13. Well, when you make a decision, you sure stick to it! That must have been a ton of work to move. Did you not move anything except your comic books? 🙂 I hope you find/found a great place in Toronto. Good luck in your new chapter, Joe.

  14. I remember the first time you went to Toronto for work. You were so unhappy. Now you are moving there. I pray you are as happy in Toronto as you were in Vancouver. You can always go back. Enjoy!

  15. Safe travels! Hope you have lots of podcasts saved up. What does Akemi do when you travel? Read? Listen to music? Know the pups will do well! They’re troopers!

@Tam Dixon: my deepest sympathies for your loss; you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers

  16. Hopefully by now you are in the air and almost there. Hope the trip goes well and the babies behave themselves. If they act up, don’t blame them. I don’t like to fly too much anymore either. See you on the other side. I’ll miss Vancouver too. Nice place you had.

  17. see ya in the central/eastern time zones….
Still waiting for the renewal…and we wait.

  18. MaggieL80: Thank you!

I hope the flight was easy on the girls, Mr. M.. Rest well tonight!

  19. Its hard saying goodbye to a place you’ve been at for so long. On November 1 we will have been in this house for 25 years. Almost more than half my life.
