  2. I think Archer is the better captain . . . but it’s Kirk! You can’t pass up an opportunity to serve with the legend himself!

I’m gonna have to go with Captain Reynolds. I like Janeway. She was a strong leader in a tough situation. But Reynolds is such a natural leader. He commands without ordering. His crew would die for him, not because of his rank but because they love him. In my mind he’s one of the greatest leaders ever shown on TV.

Picard and Adama are very similar leaders. I think thanks to the sugar-coated Star Trek universe we never really got to see Picard in truly dire straits (I mean, we do, but only for one episode here and there, not the sustained dread of Battlestar Galactica). Adama is just being kicked in the head day after day. I think I’m going to have to pick Picard, just for sentimental reasons. I parasocially flew with him in my formative years. He was my first and best Star Trek captain.

No brainer with this one. Sheridan. Again, I like Sisko. He’s much more abrasive as a leader, much more passionate about the things he believes in. I like how we saw him grow into leadership. He didn’t start out as a captain on the show. But we saw Sheridan grow so much as well. A straight-laced military leader who comes to realise that things aren’t black and white. If I had to go to war against galaxy-destroying aliens and my own planet’s corrupt government at the same time . . . I’d want Sheridan at my back.

Wow! I’ve put way too much thought into this!

  4. Captain Kirk all the way. I mean, who is going to pilot the winning Star Ship Enterprise but him?

  5. Kirk, Janeway, Picard, Sisko

  6. Kirk, Janeway, PICARD(!), and Sisko!

  7. Kirk=he’s smart, decisive and lucky.
Mal=he’s tough, instinctual and he can sum up a situation in a heartbeat. Janeway is okay but she’s tries the diplomatic formula required by Star Fleet. Mal isn’t constrained by protocol. He’s got street smarts.
Picard=He’s wise and a natural born leader.
Sisko but only because I don’t know much about Sheridan. Sisko was a good leader.
