Are you all in Montreal? I hope mom is well. My mom is suddenly having more memory issues, too, but doing well overall despite her mobility and coordination problems. In some ways it’s easier taking care of her with her diminished mobility than when she’s able to get us and go without supervision. She gets irritated with me for telling her what to do or not do, so I’m trying to learn different ways to say the same thing (instead of “do this”, I’ll say “let’s try this”).
Fortunately she’s on the first floor, but that means I’ve taken to sleeping on the sofa in order to be near her in case of any problems. I wish we had another downstairs bedroom, or even an office or something that we could convert into a bedroom. The living room is wide and open with a fireplace in the center, making it impossible to divide the room in half. We turned the garage into an office and extended utility room, and it’s heavily used as such so no bedroom there. The only room we could sacrifice is the formal dining room, but – between the large sideboard, orchids, and three full hutches/china cabinets – it would be quite an undertaking. So, for now, the sofa it is!
