I woke up this morning very sore.  Right thigh.  Right shoulder and wrist.  Neck.  But the fact that I woke up was, in itself, a minor miracle.  In the event I did not, I was in rare form yesterday…

And on an unrelated note –

Anyway, I seem to be past the danger zone but, as others have pointed out, concussion symptoms could manifest days, weeks, sometimes months after the incident so I am, technically, not out of the woods yet.

Speaking of symptoms, I do feel exhausted today but, again, I’m not sure if this is a result of a potential concussion or the overall lack of sleep I had the past week.  Between the sleepless nights in that hospital chair in Montreal watching over my mother and the fitful rest I got the last couple of days, it all seems to have caught up to me.

Which makes it perfect timing for tomorrow afternoon’s pitch!  To be fair, it’s only a pre-run-thru ahead of the New Year run-thru ahead of the actual pitches I’ll be doing in late January and early February…while I will, in all likelihood, be in Japan.  7- 11 a.m. Osaka time that is 2-6 p.m. PST and that would be the window.  I’ll just grab my Glitch coffee and be ready to go!

A few other pitches are lining up for the same timeline – the cozy mystery series, The Mote in God’s Eye, the android-themed murder mystery.  We’ll see how things go.

  1. Glad you’re feeling okay (albeit a bit sore). Too bad you don’t swim because that would work the soreness right out!

Good luck or break a leg (I’m not sure which one is appropriate)! I need to reread “The Mote in God’s Eye” again. I liked their other books too, “Dream Park” & “The Legacy of Heorot”. My hubby got me reading those and I was hooked.

Lucy continues to improve but with kidney stones, the problem might get worse later. There’s no lithotripsy for cats available here and I probably couldn’t afford that anyway. Knowing what the problem is helps. I’m working on ways to get her fluid intake increased. One day at a time….

    1. Sending Lucy healing vibes!

  2. It seems your non-concussion has made you a little goofy.
    Two words for today…”Heating pad”

Tam- too bad you can’t make a cat drink more water. That could be hazardous to YOUR health. Glad she is doing a little better.

  3. Scary fall, my last bad slip on ice left a massive bruise on my shin that the doc happily pointed out was just the liquid from the swelling on my knee being dragged down by gravity.
Soak in the Epsom salts with a scotch like a Backstreet Boy with a Vegas residency.

  4. Hope you remain fully functional, Joseph,,,I’m an old DeadHead (81) and the last 18 months saw me basically undergoing a major reconstruction/reboot of essential systems(cardiac, prostate, immune treatment of renal cell carcinoma,,,successfully,,,)so, if we can reboot failing systems every 79 years or so,,,🤪😂😘
,,,I’m a big fan of dr Gerard K. O’Neill and his idea to merely melt chunks of nickel/iron asteroids into perfect spheres, make them hollow by exploding a ball of ice in their molten hearts to make plenty of radiation protected habitats for humans and their assorted critters… I don’t expect space exploitation to require millions of humans in space by the 23rd century but I do expect a few tens of thousands of humans supported by millions of robots, both tele operated and A.I. driven,,,’cause they’re mostly immune to radiation and vacuum🤔people in space should always be underground behind 3 plus meter thick walls…

    1. Hey Gary – Stay healthy!

  5. Joe – I’m sorry to hear about the bike attack, but glad that you woke up and passed the concussion test. Did the person who hit you apologise and assist you? I hope you get better soon and all the best for your pitches. Sending support from Australia.

I am without a car at the moment as someone ran up the back of my car and pushed me into another car at the end of November. I’m okay but the car is being repaired, so I’m on public transport. Cheers, Chev
