October 26, 2024: The Montreal Update! The 13 Days of Halloween countdown continues with The First Omen!

A promising update from Montreal via sis.  Mom finally went in and had her full epidural.  It was a painful process for her but, days later, she is finally walking (somewhat) and even doing stairs.  Yesterday, my sis took her for an outing – a trip back home to visit the dogs!

The doctor says that if she continues to show improvement, she will be discharged on Monday.  But that also means that she will be without nurses’ supervision so I may be heading back to Montreal for a few days.  We’ll see…

    So good to hear your mom is feeling better! And she does stairs??!! Wow! I can’t do stairs. My knees are bad. I need to build my stamina back up after this year of chemo therapy dragging me down and not being able to do much. The “baby” chemo I’m taking now causes no side effects so hopefully this next year will be better. Praying your mom continues to improve! Well, keep us informed if you go back, Nurse Joe. 🙂

      Sorry to hear this. I know I’ve been absent for a while. It’s been a rough few years. I hope your “baby chemo” takes care of the rest of what is happening and you will get a “all clear” soon. Sending much love.

    If you go see your mom again, take Akemi and Sharky with you. Sharky may need a little more supervision but between you and Akemi it will be fine and grandma can visit with Akemi and your little one.

    I’ve had your Mum and family in my thoughts, hoping you’d find a solution to alleviate her pain. It must be such a relief to see her improving. Keeping my fingers crossed for the continued upward trajectory of her recovery.

    Your mom DOES look better. I will say prayers for continued progress for her. I have to get a caudal epidural injection to clear this sciatica I’m having. Maybe next year. After what has happened this year, we are dirt poor at the moment. Can’t afford the bill that will come with it. Also need two knee replacements but….yeah…we will see. My body will reject it I’m sure but I have dead bone in both needs (probably from the overdose of steroids my allergist gave me–which I knew had happened–based upon the doctor who was on call for my allergist, or I would have never known I was being overdosed. Aging is rough.
