Well, looks like i’m about to close on a deal to rewrite a pilot script that, pending network approval, could see us in Portugal this summer shooting an 8-episode first season.  Next week, I’ll pitch everyone my take on the revised pilot and then, hopefully, turn it around before month’s end.  If everyone is as quick at turning around notes as I am writing, we could be convening a writers’ room in April-May, then prepping in June for an August-September shoot.

Anyone been to Portugal?  I hear the fish and seafood are amazing.  Something for Akemi to look forward to.

If we do go, we will, of course, be bringing Sharky with us so we’ve started looking into the requirements for traveling with a dog.  So far, it looks fairly straightforward and relatively simple.

Sharky may not be traveling alone as we’ve made some inquiries about some pugs in need of a good home.  We’re okay with seniors and special needs, but really need a smaller pug as they will travel with us in-cabin (and I hear Air Canada are being absolute jerks about pet travel of late).

I’d look to pick up the new addition to the family sometime in March as that is when I am looking to be in L.A. to pitch another series.  Ideally, the timing would line up so that once I finish production and post on the Portugal show, I could roll into the writers room for this one – which is looking like it would shoot its first season in Croatia and additional locales throughout Europe.

Looks like this will all force me to put my ongoing Crime Binge on hold.  I’m 224 shows in and the scorecard tallies up thusly:  Thumbs up: 53  Thumbs down: 167  Thumbs sideways: 4

Speaking of putting on hold, I’ve grown increasingly frustrated with twitter and its suppression algos that have suppressed my account’s reach.  So once I finish uploading the last of these Stargate bloopers and cut scenes, I’m going on hiatus for a couple of weeks to see if that resets the algos.  If not, then life’s too short and I have other places to be – like this blog for instance.

Hope all is well with all of you!  The weekend awaits!

  1. Air Canada being jerks? Unpossible! 😀

This Portugal gig looks pretty promising, I do hope it works out. I’m looking forward to hearing more!

I don’t miss Twitter at all now that I’ve pretty much left it. I still have an account and check back once every couple of months for about five minutes before remembering why I don’t miss it, LOL.

  2. You can put your food yes/no here on the blog. Those are a lot of fun. Good luck finding Sharky a sibling. I’m sure he will love the little guy or girl.

If this new show gets made, would it be shown in the United States?

It would be shown in the U.S. There is already U.S. broadcast interest.

      How are you doing, Ponytail?

      1. I have chemotherapy treatments every 3 weeks for a total of 6. It’s an all day thing. Had #2 this week and had an allergic reaction. They got it under control then continued on. No big problems after chemo just little annoying things that keep me on the couch for a few days. No more ponytails for a while….

Sending positive thoughts your way. Mightily wishing you a speedy and full recovery, my friend.

          1. Thank you Joe. Your kindness is appreciated.

  3. Congrats on everything! I hope the new job, dog and new local are everything you want it to be.

    Yay for Saturday!

  4. Looking forward to hearing about the show and best of luck with the pet travel arrangements.

I’m sure that we all will be interested in your food reports from Portugal as well.

X does still have many things to work out, I am hoping for the best.

I’m certainly having a good weekend. Muttnapped my best friend’s retired service dog for a couple days of spoiling her rotten & cuddling for all we’re worth. Maddie is blind like Sharky, which has our cat Gracie really freaked out. She’s been stalking Maddie while the old girl was mapping out our new house, darting up to her face & fluffing up when Maddie doesn’t react. It’s hilarious!

Maddie’s just thrilled to have a break from my best friend’s 2 young dogs, as they’re much larger than she is (10 lb poodle/Jack Russell to their 85 lb German Shepard & 50 lb Redbone Coonhound), & are constantly trying to play with her when all she wants is human cuddles & popcorn. 😆

Yes. Sharky was exhausted after only one day of Bubbie’s visit.

  6. I look forward to seeing whatever you have in the works! Safe travels for you and your tribe. I hope you don’t end up feeling like you need to leave the artist formerly known as twitter, but I completely understand if you do.
