Poker Face (2023 – ) Season 1
Charlie has an extraordinary ability to determine when someone is lying. She hits the road with her Plymouth Barracuda and with every stop encounters a new cast of characters and strange crimes she can’t help but investigate and solve.
My thoughts: Absolutely love the tone of the show, the murders, and Natasha Lyonne’s Columbo-esque performance. I just wish the mysteries and their solutions were better constructed.

Bloodlands (2021 – 2022) Season 1
Northern Irish police officer DCI Tom Brannick investigates crimes while trying to hide a dark secret from his past.
My thoughts: Confusing, somewhat cliched, and ultimately sunk by plot holes.

Gangs of London (2020 – ) Season 1
Tells the story of London being torn apart by the turbulent power struggles of its international gangs and the sudden power vacuum that’s created when the head of London’s most powerful crime family is assassinated.
My thoughts: Shifting alliances, colorful characters, crosses and double-crosses and some of the wildest action sequences on television make this one a fast favorite.

My thoughts: Good, but doesn’t reach the heights of the first season. Too many implausible moments and miraculous survivors. Also, this season’s big bad is a little goofy.
Trapped (2015 – ) Season 1
In a remote town in Iceland, police desperately try to solve a crime as a powerful storm descends upon the town.
My thoughts: The quintessential Nordic thriller. This one fires on all cylinders.

I liked Bloodlands but that might because it prompted me to read about “the troubles”. It’s not something I was familiar with.
I liked Trapped but the others, I don’t have those channels. I added up all our subscription channels ($$). I can’t get anymore. We could cut back by getting commercials but after being commercial free for a while, I can’t go back.
Have you watched any of Netflix’s “Anatomy of Scandal”?

Poker Face sounds up my alley, been down the spooky frozen tundra rabbit hole with Night Country and Murder at the End of the World so long that a light detective story is perfect.
I’m still on a weird slaw dog kick; one of my first paying jobs was working at the hot dog stand at the PX, scorching my fingers on a device called “The Steamer” that scalded our hands relentlessly all to make hot dogs with chili and coleslaw. Surprised myself by making a mean slaw dog after decades of blocking that job out of my mind.
