Today marks my first sugar-free week.  Do I feel better?  Healthier?  Calmer?  Have more energy?  Less emotionally volatile?  NONE of the above.  I feel NO different.  Got one more week of this to confirm going off sugar makes absolutely no difference.  To me anyway.

Damn, but I do miss chocolate.

Well, well, well.  If it isn’t director and stunt coordinator John Stead, sitting down to a single cheeseburger at Matty’s Patty’s Burger Bar.

One of my favorite smash burgers in the city.  Note the crispy end bits!

The other day, I was contacted by a friend about a possible showrunning opportunity, a small town horror/sci-fi series that would take me back to my home away from home of Vancouver.  Love the premise but opportunities have a habit of going away in this business, so I’m not going to get overly excited at the prospect.  Still, would be a nice change of pace.

Meanwhile, awaiting the closing a development deal for another sci-fi series, this one to be a Portugal production.  Never been, but I hear the food is great.

And impatiently awaiting word on two projects – an action-adventure series that we have attached a star and a director to, and a cozy mystery series that has engendered some enthusiasm.  But again, who knows what the future holds.

Looking to finish my rewrite of a new pilot I want to get out before month’s end.

Meanwhile, my enthusiasm is fading for some other projects.  Nothing like a massive delay to kill the buzz.

Today’s Yes/No…

  1. “Decadent chocolate cake infused with chocolate chips and Reese’s Peanut Butter Chips” …is a solid start, but I can’t get behind the cream cheese frosting on that…

  2. This “sugar is worse than cocaine” fad is starting to annoy me…

  3. The burger looks delicious! Seeing the wonderful condiments on your burger reminds of when I was diabetic (gestational) and had to be alert to sugar content. I was required to take a nutrition class. Did you know ketchup is full of sugar? Don’t even talk about how small one serving is. 🤯

Yes to the cake! My favorite at that store is the Snickerdoodle cake. Yum!

Hope you find something that helps your medical condition!

  4. Good luck with the sugar thing! I don’t think I could do without chocolate. I suspect your sugar intake is actually pretty minimal (except when you’re on holiday in Japan!) so that’s why you’re not noticing much change. Akemi seems to cook most things from scratch so there’s not going to be a lot of added sugar in your diet.

If you haven’t come across Wheezy Waiter on YouTube I can recommend his videos!

I’m ready to watch another Mallozzi production. I have everything crossed that one of your projects gets picked up!

  5. Sure, why not. I like Reese’s and I like the cakes from that store. I’d rather have that smash burger though.

  6. Why would you want to go off sugar? It’s impossible anyway. There is sugar in almost everything. Are you saying “no desserts” for a while? You’ve done this before. Nothing happened last time either.

John Stead always makes a great lunch date. I’ll have what he’s having. That series in Vancouver sounds awesome. Luckily Sharky is a good traveler so he could go anywhere. (As long as he has his mama with him too.) Good luck with everything!

  7. Love chocolate too much to give up.
