Cooked up some farmers’ market habaneros the other day.  In terms of flavor and spice level, my absolute favorite pepper.

Uh oh.  I could be in trouble.  New bakery/pastry shop opened just a ten minute walk from my place, and it is delicious.  Pictured, they’re pistachio pain au chocolate and their triple chocolate croissant.    Geste Bistro & Boulangerie

A trip to the St. Lawrence Market today with my old high school friend, Cas, had us sampling a bit of everything –

Not pictured: the Portuguese custard tart and the chocolate-almond pretzel.

  1. Oh my gosh. If that chocolate didn’t make me want to ditch my diet, then I see The Meats. You’re killing me!

You and writing and Suji. So cute! Put that on Twitter-I-Don’t-Care-What-They-Call-It-Now!

    (XXXXsh*tXXXX!)

  2. I wish I could follow you two around and try all the foods. Both of you certainly know the best places!

My day has been getting lumbar epidural steroid injections. Last time, the shots caused a temporary paralysis that’s apparently uncommon. All good this time! I can walk and didn’t have to bother with a cane. Gave me an excuse to grab a nap on a weekday, too. 🙂

  3. Amazing food, Canadian bakerys are swell. Toronto or Vancouver food scene more to your liking?

  4. Did someone say pistachio and chocolate!!? xo xo xo xo xo xo

It’s a darn good thing we don’t have anything nearly as wonderful here
    as Toronto’s St Lawrence Market.
Even if I managed to get out the door by 7:00 am
there is simply no way I’d be home in time to prepare lunch.
Heck! I’d be inclined to brag to anyone within ear shot
and reward myself with an extra treat for exercising amazing restraint
if I even made it home before dark!
It’d likely take me a minimum 2 hours
just deciding which cheeses to bring home and try.
Then another couple hours at the pastry counters.
And probably another couple hours sampling meats and sandwiches.
Then off I’d go with full belly to pick up whatever mushrooms and strawberries
might remain at the farmers market across the street.
And I’d probably buy more cheese varieties while I’m there, too!

Hey Joe? Do you and Akemi still do regular jaunts to Kensington Market, as well?

  5. The chocolate one is awesome and the sandwich also looks delicious. The video was so adorable. Made me smile and giggle. We will just skip my comments about the gelato.
