Cam (2018)

When her account is stolen by a look-alike, a cam girl sets out to unmask the mysterious woman and get her identity back.

Thoughts: A surprisingly smart psychological thriller that explores our disturbingly vulnerable online lives.

Daniel Isn’t Real (2019)

A troubled college freshman, Luke, suffers a violent family trauma. He then resurrects his charismatic childhood imaginary friend Daniel to help him cope, not realizing how dangerous Daniel is.

Thoughts: An uninspired take on a well-trodden premise. Has a real MOW feel.

Eden Lake (2008)

A young couple on a romantic weekend break at a remote lakehouse, are terrorised by a group of vicious delinquents.

Thoughts: A disquieting thriller that does a great job of conveying the evil inherent in children. And also – in the grand tradition of most horror movies – the disastrous consequences of dumb decisions.

Winner = Cam!

  1. if I were still allowed to eat eggs I’d definitely go for raw egg on rice. I miss small pleasures like that.

    For anyone 55+ or anyone with weaker immune system.

    re Covid/BA5 update: Don’t panic!

    While everyone residing in a major city should be a bit more cautious in public indoor spaces for next couple weeks, there is no need to panic. BA5 is definitely more contagious but is not causing more severe disease than previous variants. Most folks who are vaxed and boosted recover at home with immediate treatment in a couple weeks. And those who do land in hospital are averaging no more than 5 day stays. Found out a couple weeks ago a fellow cancer patient in active treatment contracted BA5. She was vaxed and double boosted and began covid treatment immediately. She told my friend Kay she only has lingering fatigue symptoms now and is back to her daily routines.

    Again ,hugs n healing thoughts to Tam’s Mom and to Joe’s mom.
    Hope they both begin to feel much better soon.

  2. I don’t watch a lot of horror but I watched “Last Night In Soho” the other night. I really enjoyed the first half then it devolved into pretty predictable jump scare horror for the last half. 3/5

  3. Now I’m imagining a version of Daniel Isn’t Real with Jack O’Neill and Daniel Jackson.
