Thor: Love and Thunder

Thor: Ragnarok is one of my favorite Marvel movies, the perfect blend of action and humor.  This one seems to follow in the same tonal footsteps, but I’m not wholly convinced with the “trek to find himself” angle.  I mean, he’s a god who has presumably been around for 1500 years.  Why the sudden heartfelt crisis of conscience?  I await the reviews.

Monstrous

I love a good horror movie, but the fact is good horror movies are few and far between.  I love the 50’s aesthetic here, but the movie seems to cover well-trodden ground.  Echoes of The Haunting of Bly Manor.

Crimes of the Future

Not a fucking clue.  I feel as though I knew nothing about the movie going into this trailer and now know even less.  I’m also leery of body horror as it tends to walk a very fine line between horrific and silly.

Room 203

Man, this trailer is dark.  Not tonally dark, but visually so.  I can’t see anything, and what I do see looks fairly…meh.  An adaptation of a J-Horror I’ve never heard of.  Does not bode well.

Outer Range

Memory

Like the protagonist here, I feel…like I’ve seen this before, but I can’t quite put my finger on it…

  1. Not a movie but I just watched the new reacher series on Amazon prime video and I really enjoyed it and even has a familiar face you’ve worked with on Dark Matter Marc bendavid is in a few episodes

  2. We watched the first 2 episodes of The Outer Range…it was quite good and left us feeling intrigued by the ending of the second episode…looking forward to finding out some answers…

  3. With the exception of Hitchcock and those comical old Frankenstein and Invisible Man movies I’ve never been much into horror, so none of these modern horror trailers entice me enough to want to give em a go. And although i am a Liam Neeson fan, the trailer for Memory felt like ‘been there – done that’. yawn. yawn. is it over yet? I do recall enjoying the first Thor movie. So, on this list, it’d be the only one I might give a go to if i were bored and seeking something fun to watch.

I noticed Ex Machina and Loki – season one was recorded onto DVD for me. Loved Ex Machina but have already re watched that movie twice in recent years. Will probably give Loki a go while I’m home packing the remainder of my stuff in a couple days.
Anybody seen it? Was it any good??

  4. Agreed, he’s a god so why!
What I’m confused about is mighty Thor…
Looks good though plenty of vfx
Bet it was 80% green screen, clever stuff that.

  5. Thor: Ragnarok? That whole Willy Wonka scene turned me off.

We watched “The Bubble” on Netflix that was funny. It was about filming a movie during the Pandemic.

    Reacher was good.

Thanks for the links. I’ll check them out.

I’m still trying to find my feet from last week’s helping my mom. It was and still is a very stressful situation. I’ve been listening to an old favorite audiobook, The Fellowship of the Ring. An oldie but a goodie.

  6. Thor will probably be fun again. Haven’t seen Outer Range, but I’ve heard only good things.

  7. Feels like the Marvel movie trailers snippets of the first few minutes rather than the whole premise, so I’m guessing the finding himself plot will be brief especially after Natallie’s Thor shows up. The trailer for The Baby looked interesting; not sure about the Evil Baby plot but it does look funny.
