Today, Akemi and I braved the cold to make the walk down to Matty’s Pattys Burger Place for – what else? – their rapini sliders.

Juuuuuust kidding.

Two cheeseburgers for me, one with pickled jalapeño mayo and the other with their spicy ketchup sauce, both, of course, served on sesame seed buns.

Man, there is nothing I love more than a good smash burger, and Matty’s serves up a great one complete with trademark crispy end bits.

We headed home.  I was absolutely stuffed.  But there’s a term in Japanese, betsubara (literally: second stomach), that basically means: “There’s always room for dessert.”  In today’s case, it was the eclairs from Nugateau

The His and Hers matching set: the Rosabelle (with Raspberry Rose & Mascarpone Cream, Raspberry Compote, candied almonds Chocolate Glaze with 🌹 Rose 🌹 Petal) for Akemi and the Pistachio Royale (Pistachio Cremeux, White Chocolate Glaze, Candied Pistachios, Whipped Pistachio Ganache!) for me.  Perfection!

Today’s Yes/No…

I mean – Yes and YES.

Many have commented that Stargate is NOT underrated – to which I strongly disagree.  Maybe not underrated within its passionate fandom, but as someone has taken endless meetings in L.A. with genre executives who have never even hard of the franchise, I can guarantee you it IS underrated.

And since we’re on the subject – check out some cool concept art from SG-1’s “Frozen” compliments of James Robbins…

  1. Agree about underrated. I love all things science fiction… for the most part. I would say I rate Stargate a step above Star Trek but we all know that Star Trek is the one that gets the most attention.

  2. Yesterday I had a Bacon Cheeseburger from Burger King. Or, I guess I should say I choked one down. It was too dry. It was just hamburger, cheese, bacon, 2 pickles, and a little bit of ketchup. No lettuce, no onion, no tomato, no mayo. There was more ketchup in the packet they gave me for the fries than what was on the hamburger. The bacon tasted good though.

Your burger up there looks good. As does that dessert!! Yum!

  3. genre executives ? They must not get out much. My son is working on the side for a company making a Stargate card game. The interest is out there.

The food looks amazing! I wish I could follow you both around and get the scraps. 😉
