Well, that was impressive.  We had a huge turnout for last night’s Stargate tweetstorm, with thousands of fans joining in from all over the world.  Those who took part were treated to exclusive concept art, never before seen show footage, and surprise appearances from numerous former cast and crew.  Just a few of the highlights –

And many more, including Dark Matter cast members Anthony Lemke, Alex Mallari Jr, Jodelle Ferland, and Roger Cross!

We trended #1 in Australia, Canada, France, and the U.S., trended #2 in Germany, the UK and Worldwide, second only to the #BBCLeadersDebate and the always formidable BTS Army.  Hollywood also took note of our efforts, resulting in a notable campaign mention on Deadline:

#WeWantStargate Trends In Worldwide Campaign To Bring Forth New ‘Stargate’ Series

Head on over and add your voice to the 86 comments already there.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped pull off this seismic storm: the aforementioned cast and crew, the Stargate Now facebook crew, the gang at Save FutureStargate Travel, the High Council of StargateNow and StargateNowEurope, and, of course, all of you.

As promised, I have some goodies to give away.  Give me a day to organize. Winners will be announced in Monday’s blog entry!

So, what’s next?

Well, some much-needed R&R – and a new series ideally.

  1. Enjoy your R and R time, Joe. In the meantime, I’ve got Stargate fan-fiction brewing ! Muahahahahaha ! Twirls mustache while lightning flashes in the background

  2. Thanks so much for organizing this! I had a blast! Hopefully we will get results. ❤

  3. Man I am hopeful. I want the band(s) back together. I want to see my friends save the day. I want more SG-1, I want to return to the Pegasus galaxy and I need to see Eli save Destiny and her crew.

    1. I want more Dark Matter and Travellers. Such good shows and I feel incomplete since they were cancelled.

  4. Thank you for taking the time and effort to organize something like this.
I see a lot of people going above and beyond for this, who go to conventions, who have all the dvds (sorry I don’t!), who create art inspired by Stargate and own lots of merchandise.
I am not one of those people. I am the one who joined in a few times to rewatch episodes on Youtube, who turns on syfy whenever’s in the mood for Stargate, and who very unpopularly (oh boy) thinks SGU was not only the next logical step in the franchise but also probably the best of it.
But – and there’s always a but – in my defense, this was the third time that I participated in a tweetstorm to help bring back Stargate, so it’s gotta mean something, right? Even if I only found just one other person tweeting in my country.. probably there were more but, judging by the very disappointing absence on trending, I guess we didn’t count much.
Anyway, sorry for the long babble! Thank you again for making this happen and for praising the fans, not putting them down for any mistakes they made in the process. I for one really appreciate it! Hope a new show is already on the way!!

    1. Teresa (Tell me what country and I can tell you maybe the percentage of people in the group who tweeted from there). We generally just look for countries trending, but, for example, long after the US was no longer trending, someone mentioned it was trending in New York City and sure enough it was number 2 in NYC trends even though not measuring on the United States trends. If you tweet with the Europe time-friendly group in January (date to be determined), send me a message on StargateNow and I’ll look out for your city versus the whole country & let’s see. I’d be happy to try to do that for you. Can’t do that for everyone, but one is not going to be a problem.

  5. I hear ya. After the tweet storm last night, and then today a technical rehearsal and then concert tonight for our annual SJ Chorale Christmas Gala (all together taking almost the whole day – just got home at 10:30pm) – I’m exhausted.

The tweet storm was tons of fun though, and what a great turnout!

  6. Kree Joe,
I haven’t been here for a while. Thank you for starting this twitterstorm again as it always gives us hope about the return of Stargate. I hope MGM will consider a little in-canon pilot / tv movie now. Maybe this twitterstorm should be organised regularly (like a monthly event). Anyway I hope you of Brad Wright could make some progress to get some new live action SG material.

  7. Thanks for all of your efforts and the goodies you dropped along the way. It felt like one big, happy family again. I’ve missed that in addition to the shows.

  8. Sorry Joe, Got on to the twitter storm late. Having seen some of the traffic, I felt the need to add my two cents for what it could be worth. In watching some shows on my iTunes, I realized how instrumental the Stargate was. I thought your show was a victim of the “walking dead” phenomena (that and vampires I am NOT into). But in watching shows like Continuum, I have been proofed mistaken. I have new actors I have grown fond of like Mayko Nguyen, Lexa Doig, and Tony Amendola.

  9. What an incredible thing to be a part of. It’s encouraging to see so many fan s sharing their love for Stargate. It’s also something to know that you and all of your colleagues who worked on it years ago are still invested in it with so much passion and devotion. MGM would be foolish to pass up this opportunity!

  10. As an absolute fan of Stargate, I was delighted to participate at the tweetstorm last weekend (even if it happened during the night in France). Thank you Joe for organization.
Indeed, even after several years of the end of SG1 and SGA, I never get tired of watching the complete series in DVD in times of happiness, or sadness etc…(to escape from everyday life).
Also, I always enjoy going to conventions and see again the actors, who’s so lovely as always with fans, it’s like an addiction since I was 13 (it doesn’t rejuvenate me) !
I tell myself that nothing is impossible in life if we don’t try. About this, I remember sending to you Joe Mallozzi at the studios during the Save Carson campaign, some chocolates like “WE WANT CARSON COME BACK !!!” and what a happiness to have been heard.
So if we can contribuate to that, it’s always an honor to be able to express our attachment, our passion for the universe.
And for all this, I hope this campaign will result in a new project of TV show or movie…

  11. Massive Stargate fan and it’s so cool to see a new push to get a new in canon series out there. If everybody keeps this up, it’s only a matter of time before we get what we all hope for! #WeWantStargate

  12. I would be fine with a single Stargate Mini Series (60 minutes per episode, 10 episodes per season, a couple of seasons, like Star Trek: Picard, High Castle, Carnival Row) on Netflix or Amazon. It should introduce a set of new characters that over the course of the first season reunite the storylines and characters (SG1, SGA, SGU). By now, the Extinction plot for SGA is probably out of date. So we’d have to explain what happened to Atlantis and its crew in the past 10 years. I can’t imagine that they stayed at Milkyway. Maybe some flashbacks using de-aging.
I have a story that I pitched for a AAA open world videogame set in the Stargate universe. It could be reworked into a series.
