Movie #25: Dead Talents Society

When ghosts must compete to survive in the underworld by haunting the living, one unassuming young woman needs help creating a lasting performance.

My thoughts: This one has a ton of heart and humor.  Oh, and horror.

My rating: 4.5/5

Movie #26: Death of a Unicorn

A father and daughter accidentally hit and kill a unicorn while en route to a weekend retreat, where his billionaire boss seeks to exploit the creature’s miraculous curative properties.

My thoughts: This one had the potentially to be weird and wonderful but just nd sup being weird.

My rating: 2.5/5

Movie #27: Restless

A middle-aged empty nester’s mundane life is upended when raucous new neighbors move in next door, unleashing potential danger and disruption.

My thoughts: It really feels as though there are so few good horror movies this year that a lot of sites are just listing any movie that is remotely unsettling as “horror”.  Like this one.  Oh, they kill the cat.

My rating: 2.5/5

Movie #28: The Conjuring: Last Rites

Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren take on one last terrifying case involving mysterious entities they must confront.

My thoughts: This franchise feels like it has run its course.  Still, all things considered, it goes out with a fairly solid outing.

My rating: 3.5/5

  1. The Enterprise-D for me. The uniform would chafe (literally and figuratively) but I’d get to see some cool stuff! As I said in the first round, I would never get on a ship with Rush. His arrogance and selfishness would have me pushing him out the nearest airlock.

  2. You know your audience, no question it has to be Destiny.

  3. That choice is not fair! Can they both win? Given the sheer number of years it’s been around and part of my life though, I’ll have to go with the Enterprise-D. Icons gonna be icons.

Those movies do sound generally meh, though that Dead Talents Society one does sound a bit intriguing.
