A mid-week Sharky update!  Our boy went in for a much-needed dental this morning to address his few remaining loose and broken teeth.  The vet called with an update, letting us know that they would all have to come out.  Our boy will not only be eyeless, but toothless as well!  Nevertheless, he will apparently be much more comfortable as his teeth were not in very good shape.  So looks like it’s going to be soft food and treats for him.  Also, rather than throw the remaining kibble away, I’m trying to convince Akemi to pre-chew it for him.

Roughly 140 shows into this Crime Binge and I’ve decided to start alternating between shows I can watch in the original languages (English, French, Italian – which I understand) and show I have to watch subtitled (everything else).  140 seems like a lot and, I guess it is.  On the one hand, there are a number that I dropped after the pilot.  On the other hand, there are a number I liked enough to watch through their multi-season run.  At present, I can honesty say I enjoyed 40 of them, roughly 1 out of every 3.  I have another 100 or so shows on my watch list (not including any new seasons of the shows I’ve enjoyed), but always happy to check out your recommendations.  Please, no network or cross-genre or anything pre-2000!

Aaawww I know it sounds gruesome about Sharky’s teeth, but he will be so much happier afterwards when his mouth has healed. Our pusscat had most of her teeth out years ago due to gingivitis unfortunately, but at the age of 18 she’s happy, just a bit gummy!

  2. Poor sweet Sharky. He’s been cetainly been through the ringer. I can relate.
Albeit, as you say, at least he’ll be more comfortable now.
You could try giving Guelph vet college a call to check if they can refer you to someone that does doggy false denture implants?

    1. So I noticed when I did a quick search there was a mention of a specialty animal hospital in
the Mississauga /Oakville area that can provide doggy dental implants, if you should decide to explore that option, somewhere down the line?
Albeit, probably a good idea to hold off a couple months to first see how well he maintains weight without teeth and whether he develops any gastro problems via not chewing his food? From everything I’m reading about it, its not a simple, procedure for dogs
and it seems best to request only just enough teeth for Sharky to be able to chew food, to minimize cost and any discomfort.

  3. Get a baby bullet blender to crunch up the food, and mix in a beef-mushroom gravy to make it sloppier for Sir Sharky!

  4. Poor little guy. Are pugs predisposed to having bad teeth? Seems you’ve had a lot of teeth problems with your pug fur babies. And I bet Akemi brushes his teeth all the time. Maybe it’s weak gums or something. I was wondering about implants for dogs too. But then I thought that would be a too long and painful journey. They probably don’t care if they have teeth or not. As long as they can eat.

  5. Any luck getting Akemi to “pre-chew” Sharky’s food? 🤣
