  1. Sharky wants more short ribs! I think he only ate that broccoli to please his mom and dad. He’s a good boy.

  2. Sharky is definitely like the worlds most adorable teddy bear. xo

Hey, Joe? So I’m going through a backlog of 50 emails today and came across a couple from NS101 learning and sharing community members in Toronto, that mention the menu at Aloette.

Curious what you thought of their Stuffed Olives??
You are, thus far, the third person I’ve come across that has tried (and mentioned) it.
I’ve had stuffed olives before but never with halloumi.

Now that my liver and immune system have recovered well enough to eat almost everything I enjoy, this week I’m being treated to a pizza lunch at the only place in all of Fl that gets an A+ for an absolutely perfect NY Neapolitan pizza.
20 yrs ago a couple from Brooklyn sold their Italian deli and move down to the warmer coast with their two grown sons who had learned to make the perfect hand tossed pie with the thinner crispy crust, extra thick layering of cheese, and the exact right amount and flavoring of oil dripping down when you pick up the slice with your hands and fold it in half to eat it.
Despite the success of their new restaurant they realized it would be difficult to franchise it as they would have to personally train the pizza makers at each new location how to make the perfect traditional pie. Rather than risk their solid reputation they’ve happily remained with their doors open daily 11 am – 10 pm in the same spot for the last couple decades.

    1. The stuffed olives were very tasty. Aloette is the sister restaurant of Toronto’s top restaurant, Michelin-awarded Alo.

  3. Speaking of pizza …

    I was just wondering
how pizza differs in Canada from U.S. ?

    As you know, in U.S
NY and Chicago are both famous for their pizza
but the signature styles are different
just as California wood fired style pizza
is different than NY or Chicago.

Is the same true for Canada??
Is Toronto style different from Quebec and BC?
Or does each region basically make pizza the same way and simply
prefer different toppings? i.e: Hawaiians prefer to top their pizza’s with ham and pineapple. Alaskans truly seem to enjoy salmon on their pizza. but neither of these states have a native/signature style of making pizza, the way NY, Chicago, Delaware, and others do.
Is there a ‘most popular’ style and size pizza across all regions there?
Margherita ? Neapolitan? Sicilian? Brick oven? Wood Grilled? 18″ thin crust? 10″ personal pan pizzas?
