The Midnight Meat Train (2008)
A photographer’s obsessive pursuit of dark subject matter leads him into the path of a serial killer who stalks late night commuters, ultimately butchering them in the most gruesome ways.
Thoughts: Some inspired direction here but the carnage is so over-the-top that it strays into silly territory. A solid pick for gore-hounds who don’t mind their movies not making sense.
The Neon Demon (2016)
An aspiring model, Jesse, is new to Los Angeles. However, her beauty and youth, which generate intense fascination and jealousy within the fashion industry, may prove themselves sinister.
Thoughts: Didn’t dislike it as much as most, but nevertheless have to admit it’s as beautiful and empty as some of the models portrayed in the film. Compulsively watchable – but, ultimately, a bit of a wank.
Ouija: Origin of Evil (2016)
In 1967 Los Angeles, a widowed mother and her daughters add a new stunt to bolster their seance scam business by inviting an evil presence into their home, not realizing how dangerous it is.
Thoughts: Smart and scary with a standout performance by a young Lulu Wilson as a chaotically creepy kid. Jeff Howard and Mike Flanagan at their absolute best. Of the 45 horror movies I’ve watched to date, this one is at the top.
So, what have YOU been watching lately?

Okay, I have Ouija: Origin of Evil (2016) on my Watchlist now. Thanks for the recommendation!
I watched Jennifer’s Body. Parts of it were interesting and I did enjoy the band got what they deserved. It had a good cast, too.
We’ve been watching old flicks, such as Voyage into Space and The People Time Forgot. Well, we did watch the new Prey. The stunt people were good. If you like Predator movies, it was watchable. The best thing about the movie Prey ( spoiler alert ) ………………………………………………………………was that the dog lived. 🙂
Have you seen The Booth Brothers slasher called Dead Still. Ben Browder plays the lead. It’s about a haunted Victorian camera and Victorian death photography. Ben also starred in two other slashers Bad Kids of Crestview Academy which he also directed and it’s prequel Bad Kids Go To Hell.
I have not.
I will add Ouija to my list!
A rare 4.5 from you. Wow.
What am I watching: See, Invasion, Strange New Worlds, Picard (next on the list), The Book of Boba Fett (CAN’T WAIT FOR ANDOR), The Orville, Billions, Orange is the New Black, Supernatural (late to the party, I know), Manifest, The Problem with Jon Stewart, Better Call Saul, Love on the Spectrum, Good Omens, I’m sure there are more that I’m leaving out. We rotate but these are the ones not finished up yet.
