Tomorrow!  I’ll be joining host David Read for another installment in his Dial the Gate series.  We’ll be talking Stargate: Atlantis season 4 at 12 pm PT, 3 pm EST!

Akemi was in the mood for oysters so she ended up making not one, not two, not three, but FOUR different preparations today for lunch…

And now her throat is scratchy.  Could she be allergic?

Today, we swung by our favorite Yuzuki Fish Market and picked up a few things.  Just your usual shopping list items: bottarga, crab guts, and prepared lantern squid (which I haven’t eaten since the last time I was in Japan).

One of the things I love about living in a condo is the feeling of living in a very large house with friends.  There’s Brett and Natalia across the hall.  And Kevin and Emily from down the hall.  And Ivon.  And Eknoor.  And Kayla (pictured) who stopped by for a matcha latte at Akemi’s Cafe.

Suji’s been having some mobility issues lately.  She’s never been the strongest walker but, over the past year or so, she has become a decided wobblier stroller.  Her gimpy left hindquarter causes her to veer right which prompted me to nickname her Tokyo Drift.  But increasingly, over the past couple of days, she’s been having trouble standing.  She manages a shorter morning walk but I’ve had to support to keep her from falling over when she eats.  The other day, I found her sitting helplessly in her water bowl (a move pioneered by my girl Jelly).  I usually take her for an afternoon carpet run because she seems to do better given the traction offered but, today, she only managed a few steps before cramping up.  Looks like I may need to raise my massage game.

Speaking of Jelly, Akemi found this video of me and my gal from back in the day…

  1. That seems like a lot of oysters.

I haven’t heard much about Ivon the last while – I think he left Twitter. Hope he’s doing well.

Poor Suji. Please give her a big hug for me. But it’s comforting to know that she will always have the best of care and love from you guys.

    Aww, sweet Jelly!!

  2. Scratchy throat? Allergic reaction or…. Covid. Don’t let your guard down.

My niece just got over covid (like a bad flu). She is a very healthy 27 year old flight attendant and said it “knocked me on my butt”.

Another niece, pregnant, 31 years old is right now getting over Covid. (like bad flu) She had it, her husband AND 2 year old daughter..

Another niece just got over it (age 32) Young, very healthy. She got it, her husband, 3 year old daughter AND 6 month old infant son all got it. Again, flu like symptoms.

    Don’t let your guard down!

Maybe Suji just needs her wheelchair right now. A lot of your old gang lost a few teeth. I guess Jelly wasn’t one of them. 🙂

  3. That makes me sad that Suji is slowing down. If she does crash, just know that you’ve both given her a great retirement and prolonged her life by years. It is impossible to love her more than both of you do.
When you rescued her from the barn sanctuary, her improvement was impressive! It just shows what lots of love and TLC will do.

Have you considered THC supplements for her? If you can’t get any locally, here’s a link to my friend that co-owns several THC shops in Kentucky. You could probably get her on the line directly to discuss options. Ask for Nancy, she’s very knowledgeable. Her company does ship in the US but I’m not sure if they will to Canada. You can always call/email and ask. I can email you her phone number, too. If you’re interested, that is.

Nova Scotia is fighting back: Do you think Trudeau will be over his confinement soon? 😉

God, what I wouldn’t give for sane, adult, wise political leaders to take over. I get so tired of seeing our senators/pres. fighting over stupid stuff on twitter or pulling childish pranks in the WH. Were they always so immature or did SM expose them? 🙄

    1. Suji is already taking THC supplements with her breakfast. I think it helps.

Yes, poor poor Trudeau. Terribly unfortunate that he was a close contact and thus had to isolate – even though Ontario Health says there’s no need to isolate if you’re asymptomatic.

  4. Ah, poor Suji. She is so fortunate to have you guys as her loving parents.

I hope Akemi feels better soon.

Oysters, are such a no from me. I have gamely tried them several ways, and just dislike the taste. Akemi can have mine!
