Thanks to everyone who weighed in with their tea thoughts. Although I’m not usually a hot drink type of guy, I do enjoy my fancy lattes during the day and my chamomile at night. Speaking of lattes, are you all partial to any version in particular? There was a spot near my place that used to do mostly specials ranging from a zabaglione to a chocolate with buffalo milk. A Vietnamese cafe, Coffee Dak Lak, serves a delicious “egg coffee” that also comes in a chocolate version.

I prefer my coffee type drinks heavier on the coffee taste and lighter on other parts. Latte to me is too heavy on the milk, can’t tolerate it as much the older I get, but I do enjoy it once in a while.
2 interesting lattes I had this past year were the boozy latte and the durian latte. Both delicious.
I prefer mocha and cappuccino than latte though.
Me : Wait, there’s a movie that inspired The Ring? clicks to see what movie it is

… oh, ok..
I’m not a hot drink guy either. I don’t drink tea at all (I’ve drunk tea maybe three times in my entire life). And I hate the taste of coffee (too bitter) so I’ve probably drunk coffee even less times than I’ve drunk tea!
My go to hot drink is hot chocolate. I used to vicariously drink your daily reports of the Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival and wish there was something similar where I lived. I recently invested in a stove-top steam wand thingy that lets me froth milk properly so I’ve been making my own hot chocolate. I use about 15g of Callebaut Power 44 milk chocolate, 20g Callebaut Sao Thome dark chocolate, and 15g Callebaut Caramel. The sweetness from the Power 44 and Caramel nicely offsets the bitterness of the dark and I don’t need to put in any sugar (most cafe hot chocolates I need to put in a couple of teaspoons of sugar as the chocolate powder or syrup they use is very bitter).
I would love it if cafes gave as much attention to their hot chocolate menu as they do to their coffee menu.
I miss the hot chocolate days too. I’m not a coffee drinker.
Line Noise: Tell me more about this “Steam Wand Thingy’.
Line Noise: Have you tried sour tasting coffee? Try Ethiopian coffee.
I’m not a fan of either sour tasting coffee or chocolate. In fact, I pretty much avoid anything sour.
@TamDixon: https://alternativebrewing.com.au/product/bellman-stovetop-steamer-50ss/ I don’t know if they’re available in North America.
@NANTOKANARU77: Do not like sour either. Sweet and salty I’m all in. But bitter and sour I can’t stand. Sourdough bread is about as sour as I get.
