Well, it’s been a frustrating 48 hours where practically everything that could have gone wrong did – or came pretty damn close.  The final straw was the closing on our new place which the seller’s lawyer dragged out until five minutes before they were official in breech, thus ensuring I wouldn’t be able to get the place cleaned or internet installed until after this weekend.  Thanks a lot.

On the other hand, there were a few bright spots…

June 1, 2018: Let’s Decompress!

Finally tried Halo Top’s birthday cake flavor and I must admit it’s probably my favorite of their entire line.  It perfectly captures that grocery chain fakey vanilla cake and icing flavor.  And I mean that in the best way possible.

Oooh, check out the ships adorning the Scotiabank Theatre where Akemi and I took in Deadpool 2 the other day.  I enjoyed it, but preferred the original.  Akemi absolutely loved it and can’t stop talking about it.

Check out this interesting piece of artwork.

Swing by Le Gourmand on Spadina Ave. for their frozen custard accompanied by a piece of their city-best chocolate chip cookie.  Wash it down with a hot mocha.

Thanks to Dark Matter fan D. Dolphin for this veritable treasure trove of hot sauces.  Looks like I’ve got my work cut out for me this summer.

June 1, 2018: Let’s Decompress!

Also included in the swag box, a strawberry hat for Akemi that fits Lulu just fine.

June 1, 2018: Let’s Decompress!

Also, a pug-themed winter hat for Akemi that shall henceforth be known as “Joe’s thinking cap”.

Hmmmm.  Thoughts…

I lose Akemi to King Street’s new abacus art installation.

Finally – Happy National Doughnut Day!  I celebrated by swinging by Krispy Kreme to purchase an original glazed only to learn they were giving them away for free! What a time to be alive!

  1. So cool. THey closed the Krispy Kremes around me. Which is probably a good thing diet wise – they are sooooo goooood.

    Now to go shopping…HALO TOP!

  2. We worried about donuts here. Then Leora went to Tel Aviv and found a shop and the guy said HE worried too, then found this place. She was excited til she found out lactos, grain and kosher. Oy. Got them home and OMG… goodby Dunkin Donuts, Goodbye Crispy Cream.

  3. That sucks about the lawyer, but it sounds that it ultimately worked out. Why can’t anything go smoothly? Ugh.

Love the hats! That mocha/custard/cookie combination at Le Gourmand looks really good. I’ve got to remember that next time I am up.

Free donuts? What’s not to love?!

  4. Buying houses can be frustrating . . . especially when lawyers are involved!

I think I’ve spotted Halo Top ice cream here in Australia. I took a look at the ingredients and thought “Nah. If I’m gonna eat ice cream I’m gonna eat REAL ice cream.”

I made Chocolate Marshmallow Ice Cream earlier this week. Its ingredients were chocolate, marshmallows, vanilla, cream and milk. It was pretty good. The marshmallows gave it a bit of a gluggy mouth feel, though. I’ll probably reduce the amount of marshmallows next time, or try a different variety.

That brick sculpture reminds me of Bill and Ben the Flowerpot Men.

No doughnuts for me on Doughnut Day although there was a big batch of doughnuts (100s of them!) delivered to work the other day. I had 4. *sigh*

  5. Wow, it sounds like you had an excellent day. Sorry about the lawyer and the cable. It will be a pain waiting and a hassle waiting for cable guy. 🙁

Can you remember growing up without internet? I’m not sure how we made it…. I’m not making fun of you but rather, of me. I’m so spoiled now. I grew up without air conditioning in the South. That would probably be considered child abuse now.

That was a wonderful Q & A from Steve Bacic! It’s amazing how he can change his look with each character. I had to look twice at some of the photos, because they look like different people. I suppose that was the idea. 🙂

  6. I saw Deadpool 2 last week after getting a copy from iTune’s web. I had to get the first so I knew what was going on. I didn’t want what happened to me when I saw Bladerunner 2049 after so many years going by from Bladerunner. (disappointing) I do think it will have a sequel or two. Well it’s a good thing Krisp Kremes was giving them away since that’s the only price that would interest me. They were responsible for the closing of my favorite donut shop. I don’t shop at walmart also.

  7. Thanks for the sweet Lulu pic and chocolate chip cookie porn! xo
Hope you are able to get your internet installed soon.

  8. I haven’t had a donut in ages. Last one I had was in Victoria, so seven months ago. At a Tim Horton’s, first time I’d been to one. Pretty good to hold me for this long …

  9. Your pics and stories about the food you discover and consume makes it hard for me to maintain my 16 hour fast. 😉

I feel your pain, no kidding here. I’ve had several insanely frustrating days in a row my own self.

Adjusting to my school teacher wife and our 4 kids being home for summer break has placed a family-sized dam in the middle of my flowing river of a writing schedule.

That last sentence is proof that I’m off my game mentally. LOL

I hope things get better for you. Thanks for the update.
