Last night, in addition to enjoying a spectacular meal at Osteria Mozza with Martin Gero, Carl Binder, and Paul and Michelle Mullie, I also got to practice my Japanese by breaking the news to two wayward young tourists that the Paul Smith store was a good 20-30 minute walk from our current location.  “Chotto toei desu,”I broke the news.

“Nihon o yoku hanashimasu,”said one.  “Jozu.”

“Jozu arimasen,”I replied.  And then followed up with: “Heta no yoko zuki desu.”  That always gets a laugh.

Anyway, great meal and great company.  Martin Gero remains the Golden Boy. How busy is he?  Would you believe he did an emergency scene rewrite between the panzanella and his ricotta and egg raviolo?

Me and Michelle!

All in all, a most productive trip.  Met some great people and have a few more intriguing possibilities to add to the mix.  Stay tuned!

  1. ‘A most productive trip’ sounds pretty awesome, look forward to hearing more…
    ….I’m always ‘stay tuned’ 😉

    These photos are great.

Help us out here, Joe…..English translation of your Japanese words? 🤔

  2. The elusive Paul Millie. Also hanamasu. Always lovely to see the great Robert Picardo, even if I follow him on Twitter

Good to hear that the trip to LA was productive. Onwards and upwards.

  3. Glad you had a good time in L.A. – I was wondering, do you ever see Richard Dean Anderson when you make these trips?

  4. Like. it all

  5. A really good trip – so happy for you, after all that happened recently.
‘… and a few more intriguing possibilities to add to the mix’ … Oooo, can’t wait to hear about those!

  6. I can’t wait to hear about these possibilities. Sounds like it was both a fun and productive trip.

Back home finally after my own trip. I spent more time waiting for planes than I did actually in them!

    1. Ya, the days of dashing to the airport, buying a ticket and running for the plane are pretty much done.

      Elminster

      1. That’s what the food court is for, I enjoy a good sprint from gate to gate to get tasty southern cooking in Atlanta, Five Guys and Wow Bao bowls in DC; I rarely shop when I travel, all I come home with is full tummy.

  7. Sounds like the trip was a success in all things worthwhile. I’m sure the ladies missed you though.

    Any decisions about condos?

    Have a great Sunday!

  8. Hope this finds you safely home and catching up on all our DM love letters. I only hope my letter reaches you in time. After extending the deadline, I didn’t really worry, after all how long can it take for a letter to reach you from Tn to Toronto? Well actually, quite a bit. Was told to give it at least 2 weeks if not longer. Really? Seriously?

How’s the weather up there? We are in the throes of Fall. Finally getting some color change.

Thanks for all the pics. Eager to hear about all the meetings.

    1. That is why on Thursday (or was it Friday?) I sent mine Fed Ex 4-day ground mail. My fault for prolonging this, but after the last day in September when we were taking a break from the DMFTL account, I had to catch up on receipts so I could file my taxes for my 2016 return; then I went into full in to try to get an anniversary video together for my husband as a gift, but this one is a bit more difficult than the one I did for DMFTL. Not a bit. A LOT. A lot of the pictures back there were no on digital so I had/have a ton of pictures to scan in, newspaper clippings, etc. But the date came and I apologized it was late and maybe lets say I’ll have it done by the end of 2017. He didn’t mind. Then right after that, I had to get ready for the beach, and here we were. So this was the only way at this point to get it to them .

  9. Glad you were able to finish up your L.A. trip. Sounds like there will be some recapping. In that category Jason Momoa from SG Atlantis was in the news with his dreamy bride. Hope David Hewlett is not the one on Jason’s list. I will have to see Jason in Justice League after scheduled therapy days.
