I’ve settled into a nice little routine since returning to Vancouver.  I wake up early, hit the treadmill for a run (while watching  a couple of episodes of Seinfeld), head over to Granville Island for some fresh fish and produce, have a protein shake for lunch, take the dogs for an outing, spend the afternoon reading outside on the back patio, have dinner, watch an episode of…something, shower, read for a couple of hours, watch a Japanese t.v. show with Akemi, and then lights out.

I really could get used to this.

I do, occasionally, shake things up.  Like, yesterday, when I sent out a brief overview of the major arcs for Dark Matter’s fourth season.  Or tomorrow when Akemi and I meet up with a real estate agent to check out condos in Yaletown.

  1. I’m comparing my answers to everyone else’s. They are ALL so wrong! 😆 More like, I’ll be lucky to get a couple of answers correct.

A condo sounds like a great compromise! Can you get one in Toronto and Japan too? Hey, it’s not out of your reach. I have a friend that bought multiple condos/houses in several vacation locals. He bought them with his brothers and they share vacation time/expenses.

We’re considering dropping our Dish Satellite TV and our son has suggested using Plex. He said Plex has a dvr capacity. Does anyone have experience with Plex that they would share?

  2. 😳 meant Locales.

Tim G.: Yes, Roger Moore was a good Bond. Moore and Daniel Craig are my favorite Bonds. Moore was a more classy/capable Bond. Craig can play a dock worker or dashing ladies man with a wardrobe change.

Oh and your Vancouver life sounds so….peaceful. A little oasis in a world of chaos.

    How is Akemi doing?

  3. Awww. Poor sweet adorable Suji. Time for some non slip booties?

Have a few hours downtime coming up this weekend again.
Looking forward to checking out Hand Maids Tale.
So many are singing its praises these days.

As far as downsizing to a condo in Yale town goes …
While it will offer you quicker easier access to restaurants and
    such,
The obvious down side is having to sell off a large
portion of collected books & memorabilia.
And where will you put new books you acquire
    as they buid up?
Are you really ready to commit to only reading in digital format?
Also, the kitchens are much smaller.
Would you not miss having a more spacious kitchen?

Th less obvious thing to examine is your stress level.
    Your daily blog entries
always seem to contain much less stress when at home
    in Granville
than when you are in the hustle n bustle of city life.

If you are going to move and or downsize
Would it not make much more sense to
relocate to a relatively quiet burb
much closer to Toronto or LA,
to eliminate the physical, emotional & financial burden
of flying back n forth for work twice per year,
while still maintaining a slightly quieter/ less hectic,
    home environment to return to?

Sounds a lot like my retirement plans. Except for the waking up early part. And the treadmill part. And the Seinfeld and Granville Island part. Oh and the watch a Japanese tv show part with Akemi. Other than that… me too!

  5. So have you decided for sure, or are you just looking at options? I know you love your house. This is a big change!

@Drea .. Yeah on the suggestion for non-slip booties for Suji, they would help.

  6. Sounds like you’re on a mini vaca…rest, a little exercises, tv/movies, smoothies & reading. Enjoy! Meanwhile we’re chomping at the bit, counting down the days until the Raza crew return!

  7. You definitely deserve the slower pace and enjoying your life since so much of it was work, work, work in Toronto. I haven’t had any pet sitting these last two days and I was hoping to get more accomplished but I’ve got some kind of flu-like bug and my motivation is just not here.
