When I head back to Vancouver in a couple of weeks, these are the Toronto treats I will miss most…
The sushi omakase at Yasu Sushibar.
The tacos at Campechano.
The corn soup and veggie wrap combo at Ravi Soups.
Scallops conserva in Galician sauce at Bar Raval.
The grilled whole octopus at Bar Isabel.
The 19 ingredient Singapore Slaw at Lee.
The Vietnamese coconut curry crab at The People’s Eatery.
The Sweet Hornet pizza (mozzarella, fior di latte, soppressata, black olive, honey n’ chilli) at Piano Piano.
The pan-fried lamb dumplings at The Dumpling House.
The chazzer (smoked pastrami gravlax, salmon caviar, and horseradish cream cheese) at Schmaltz Appetizing.
The burgers at Burger’s Priest.
The award-winning Magnolia Peach truffle at SOMA Chocolate (peach and magnolia flower infused in an Ecuador chocolate ganache).
The chocolate chip cookies at Portland Variety.
The Basque cake with sherry cream at Bar Isabel.

Oh my, I’d love to go on a food tour with you but…I’m not sure I could keep up!
Joe’s newest occupation – Food guide.
Hi Joe
Ya know, there’s one way to not miss them… stay in Toronto!
Elminster
Have you been holding out on us? I don’t remember that burger from previous posts.
Amazed, dazed, and now perpetually hungry due to this post! I had some sushi from work today – a variety with tuna and salmon and veggie dumplings. Pales in comparison.
Hope all is well on the home front & that Akemi feels better.
The Scallops conserva in Galician sauce – Is that the way they serve it? You could cut your arm off with that lid.
The grilled whole octopus makes me sad. Poor thing.
Those chocolate chip cookies look heavenly.
Oh man, coconut crab curry. And that Magnolia Peach truffle. Whoa.
But hey, I made yummy fudge this weekend.
oooh did someone say cookie!?
Happy birthday Sweet Suji!
Hope it was a fun day. <3
I always have to be careful not to short out my keyboard while reading your foodie posts.
Ok I am all over the desserts!!!…. and what part of the octopus do you eat??, really?
The sweet hornet pizza sounds yummy although I’ve yet to meet a sweet hornet! And how DO you eat that burger?!
That cookie was still warm when you took that picture, wasn’t it. You can tell … Mmmmm
Slayed, I am by this food as Yoda would say, I’ll see how long I can resist before I try mail ordering those cookies and that chocolate.
Remember when you first moved to Toronto? Do did a similar blog post about how you really missed the awesome food in Vancouver, and how there weren’t any good restaurants in Toronto. 😉
Larry D.: 😆
Mr. M.: While you’re on hiatus, you can check out “Unfortunate Events” on Netflix. Neil Patrick Harris is brilliant at Count Olaf!
Happy belated birthday to Suji!
Now I’m hungry. Must. Go. Eat.
Mmmm….cookie.
If I ever get to Toronto, I’d like to try out Burger Priest and also go to Soma and some of the other sweet shops you’ve mentioned.
