Thanks to all who participated our episode naming poll. We have a winner!
Dark Matter “Episode 25: Isn’t That A Paradox?”
Well?! Isn’t it?!!!!!
Four more chances to choose your favorite episode title to come!
While the action continued at the Ishida Palace, I was at the production offices prepping the BIG season finale. AND making plans for season 4 (How’s that for optimism?).
A little something the Art Department is working on…
A question from birdyincanada: “I know I just missed the last mailbox, but I would like to know who is responsible for choosing a director and why does a show choose different directors for different episodes instead of sticking with one person. They do this for movies, why not for shows?”
Answer: Production proceeds on a staggered schedule so that, while one director is shooting an episode, another is prepping. It would be next to impossible for a single director to prep the entire 13 episode slate (it would take months!) and then direct the whole thing – and, frankly, not particularly efficient. Using different directors also allows us to try and discover new talent, like this season’s finds: directors Craig David Wallace and Melanie Orr.
Before Bubba’s passing, we had some family photos taken with photographer Kevin Sarasom at Off Leash Studio. He got some great shots of the kids, among them this keeper:
Also, thanks to artist A. Jaye Williams (sillwill.com) for the amazing sketch of Bubba.
Aww. What a great family portrait photo! Their characters are each captured perfectly.
The sketch of Bubba is amazing. (So good to see him again 😊)
That picture of the pups and that sketch are absolutely beautiful.
Great picture! Bubba always looked good in those Hawaiian prints. You described him as goofy but he looks chill with a little curiosity mixed in. Suji looks good in pink but Lulu, Lulu looks a little anxious. I must be reading something into nothing because you said they really liked the photographer. One more observation on the photo, Frenchie’s have beautiful ears.
Love Mr. William’s drawing! Bubba does look charmingly goofy there.
Sorry for being all over the place, my mind is like Jello lately. It’s hard to pin down.
Hi Joe
Beautiful pic and sketch!
Elminster
Great photograph and drawing! Both make me feel a bit better about my choice losing. Again. LOL
Haven’t responded in awhile but still reading.
I finally figured out how to pick the winning Episode Title…choose the one that I like the least…works everytime 🙂
What a wonderful picture of your babies. Lulu has the funniest look on her face.
Love the sketch of Bubba.
Looking really forward to the new season…do you have a start date yet?
One request….more Anthony please 🙂
Great pictures of your babes!
Lost another title.
Joe you only have about 2 weeks left in production. Wow!
You had said going for photos… was waiting for you to post. Yes, special keeper.
Now that picture is priceless! Bubba in his Hawaiian shirt is classic. Fantastic sketch too.
No paradox here, I missed voting because the resort in Mexico had spotty wifi. That’s okay.
Beautiful family portrait.
Short rambly story. Where we stayed, small pets were welcome. As we lounged by the pool, we watched one of the maids and a maintenance man chasing a very happy bouncy pug who was intent on exploring the landscaping. He must have slipped out of the room, and discovered a wonderful keep away game. Wiggly little guy didn’t mind getting cornered and picked up. Adorable.
Didn’t pick the winning title this time but there’s always the next one.
Fab pictures of the furbabies.
Cool concept artwork 👍
I’m visualising it with an added mixture of blue/aqua lighting/gels and a subtle hint of red!
“A paradox is a statement despite reasoning from true premises, leads to a self-contradictory or a logically unacceptable conclusion. A paradox involves contradictory yet interrelated elements that exist simultaneously and persist over time.”
Now I wonder what this episode could be about?
Your art department is always on point! Love the trio pic. So glad you were able to get it made. I recently bought a shirt like Bubba’s at Walmart. Perfect for the beach or daily casual wear…I also painted my nails pink.
The sketch of Bubba is amazing! Captured him perfectly. The maple leaf scarf is a nice touch.
Beautiful family photo! That photographer, Kevin Sarasom, has a talent for capturing their spirit. Can you post more of the pics?
Also really love that Bubba sketch, nicely done A. Jaye Williams!
I voted for the least popular title this time, “I want to see the future”. Silly me, this is a scifi show, thought it would be a good fit.
Thank God it’s Friday, what a crappy week. And it’s been rianing here for 2 days straight. Can we say flash floods?
Its only a matter of time … Before I finally pick a winning title.
Gorgeous family portrait and sketch!

That photo of the pups is truly beautiful, and the sketch,, wow! thanks so much for sharing.
Thank you very much! Oh wow I had no idea it would take so long to prep a single episode. How do you keep track of all this? It’s amazing. This also explains why it takes years to make a movie, even though the duration of filming is not that long.
And by the way, that photo is absolutely adorable!! That sketch just radiates happiness, too.
Thanks again!
All the best,
Birdy
The pictures of Bubba made me tear up. The picture of the fur-kids is fantastic. The sketch is beautiful.
@Drea I’m excited for the technology coming in this area. I know someone who has been living with ALS for 20 years now (no joke). And I know someone who has quadriplegia who might also benefit from this technology.
