Last night, Akemi and I enjoyed dinner with some thoroughly charming company.
Also, the guy she married.
Yes, we had dinner with my old high school friend, Lawrence (a.k.a. Buddy) and his better half, Mel (a.k.a. Mrs. Buddy). We enjoyed drinks, jerk wings, hilarity (of course) and a double order of chocolate-espresso mousse.
Then today, I set aside a couple of hours to watch Ron Murphy’s director’s cut of our season opener. Hoowee! A LOT going on in this one.

Passed my 69th birthday (23 Dec.) so quietly, even I could barely hear it. Still recovering from the nasty bug that flattened me a week ago. Hoping Husband is not coming down with it.

CORRECTION: SIXTIETH birthday!
Oh, the crying tantrum the dog threw when I told her she couldn’t come with us to Mammaw and Pappaw’s. She was crying and throwing herself against the door and window. I was afraid she wouldn’t be allowed into the Clifton Mills Christmas lights display later. But my husband couldn’t let the injustice stand and he’s going to stop home after work to bring her here and we’ll just stick to the outside of the Christmas lights display.
