Take a walk through the bridge of the Raza compliments of Dark Matter set designer Doug Slater:

Nerds, take heart!  http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/health-news/cool-kids-can-go-on-to-become-losers-in-later-life-study-finds-10432348.html

I never thought I’d say this about another superhero movie after seeing Avengers: Age of Ultron, but I’m really looking forward to this:

  1. The early popularity popularity phenomenon is where we get the insult #peakedinhighschool.

  2. The walk through the bridge was cool. It’s bigger than I thought. You are so good to us, giving us these bts videos and pics. 🙂

How’s Lulu? Usually no news is good news but you’re worrying people here, Joe.

  3. Interesting video walk-through. I especially liked the equipment closet (racks of red lights) and the bar-bell galaxy in the monitors. That’s quite an attention to detail.

I’ll have to see about Deadpool…it depends on how far over to the purile side the humor gets. By the way, what did you think of Netflix’s Daredevil? I liked the fresh look at Daredevil and it was certainly better than the last Daredevil movie, although that’s setting the bar pretty low.

  4. Doug Slater is so talented. And I remember in the beginning he was a little worried and stressed about having to design a space ship. Turns out it was no sweat at all for him. Simple as pie. I think his video needs a little music. Some dance music (for some reason).

  5. I’m a big fan of Ryan Reynolds so I will likely be seeing Dead Pool regardless. That walk through looks really cool. I want to be on that bridge for real!

I’m over in PEI right now visiting my friends at their cottage near the beach at Wood Islands. It’s a really beautiful spot!!

  6. P.S. The “c” in Nanuk on twitter is not a typo. That is the official account that was set up to help find the dog. Nanuk is a 140 lb. Maremma Sheepdog.

  7. Joe, did you see Guardians of the Galaxy? I thought that one was great! A fun ride, but with a bit of heart, too. If I had to rate all the Marvel movies, it would probably be on top. We just saw Ant-Man and we really enjoyed that one, too, but GotG is still my favorite.

  8. Not sure what the Syfy execs think of DM so far, but check this out from Bell:

“TORONTO (July 21, 2015) – Space is experiencing a supernatural high this summer after wrapping up its most-watched June since 2010 for total viewers, climbing four spots to now rank #1 among Canadian specialty channels in its key A25-54 demo. Fueling its meteoric rise are the smash hit intergalactic thrillers DARK MATTER and Space original series KILLJOYS.

Since its debut in June, KILLJOYS has delivered an average audience of 386,000 viewers, quadrupling its timeslot audience over last year. Airing immediately after KILLJOYS, sci-fi thriller DARK MATTER is claiming an average audience of 489,000 viewers, with Episodes 3 and 4 tipping over half a million viewers. Currently, DARK MATTER ranks as the #2 program on Space for A25-54, behind global genre heavy-weight, DOCTOR WHO. In their respective Friday at 9 p.m. ET (KILLJOYS) and 10 p.m. ET (DARK MATTER) timeslots, Space ranks as the #1 entertainment specialty network for total viewers, and in the 25-54, 18-49, and 18-34 demos.”

June 2010 huh… wasn’t that when SGU was finishing Season 1? Funny coincidence, don’t you think, air an actual space sci-fi series and your ratings suddenly jump through the roof…

Also, I never knew Dark Matter had a 2-Hour Season Finale:

“The fate of the Quad hangs in the balance in the Season 1 finale of the smash-hit, Space original series KILLJOYS, Friday, Aug. 21 at 9 p.m. ET. For those who need to catch up, KILLJOYS CATCH-UP MARATHON begins Sunday, Aug. 16 at 10 a.m. ET

Space’s other Friday night juggernaut hit DARK MATTER airs its final two episodes of Season 1 back-to-back, Friday, Aug. 28 at 9 p.m. ET. The DARK MATTER CATCH-UP MARATHON, begins at 9 a.m. ET on Sunday, Aug. 23”

  9. I am not a Deadpool fan. And honestly, for as much as I wish more hero movies were R-rated (can they seriously stop with Cap and “language!” I mean the guy was in the military), comic book blood on screen wigs me out more than “natural” blood. But, Gina Carano is in it, so I have to see it. Just maybe on the small screen and by myself so no one makes fun of me for squeezing my eyes shut at all the brain blown bits.

  10. The cool kids article was not a surprise to me, even though it took me many years to figure out the phenomenon. The kids everyone thought were “cool” were the ones that seemed to be “getting away with” doing cigarettes, alcohol, drugs and sex in any combination. The “nerds” were the law abiding kids who didn’t cut class, did our homework and didn’t break any laws (parent’s, school’s, society’s). We got picked on and beaten up because we weren’t taught to fight. We got an education so we could hold down jobs. The “cool” kids went to jail, got killed or are offering you fries with your burger.

  11. Sure Deadpool looks interesting, if for nothing else than being a comic book movie that strives to be the most accurate comic-to-screen portrayal of a character ever…..

But what do you think of the upcoming Craig Robinson show? 😉

(Isn’t he one of your faves? Or am I thinking of someone else?)

    -Mike A.

  12. @Also, I never knew Dark Matter had a 2-Hour Season Finale

That’s mostly down to Defiance Season 3s finale being August 28, and the Killjoys August 21(Due to only having 10 eps).

So Dark Matter will have the Defiance season finale as a lead in. One ep of Defiance and two of Dark Matter all on one day. A nice serving of Scifi right there 🙂

  13. The walkthrough is VERY AWESOME. In all seriousness, what other shows get this much info from showrunners? Usually you have to wait for the DVD for things like this. Thanks!
