Akemi and I spent much of the day winding down from last night’s festivities.  It was quite an evening. A couple of the culinary highlights –

December 25, 2014: The Christmas Wind-down!

After dinner, dessert, and drinks, we retired to the living room for the present-opening portion of the show.  As usual, mostly food and drink-related items for me including a set of copper mugs for when I host my own Moscow Mule soirees.  Everyone got in on the action, even the dogs –

And some more so than others.  Lulu, for instance, spent much of the night helping herself to all the other dogs’ Christmas toys.

It was a sweet, sweet Christmas haul.

By the time all was said and done and unwrapped, we were ready for bed.

And then, this morning, we were all up bright and early (Thanks to Bubba who has been an early riser of late).  We ate leftovers while he dogs had a special Christmas Day breakfast prepared by Chef Akemi.

Hope you’re all enjoying equally relaxed Thursday (It IS Thursday, isn’t it?).  I’m off to read something.

P.S. Sis says thanks to all you well-wishers!

  1. Merry Christmas from Dalias-Ft. Worth Intl. Airport, where I am connecting from San Antonio to NW Arkansas. Joining extended family for a few days.

    Just had two revelations:

    1. I’m now the same age that my commercial-pilot father was when he went on terminal medical leave.

    2. The pilots for my connecting flight are young enough to be my kids, God bless them.

  2. Actually, it’s more like “WIND”-day around here in Ottawa. Been windstorming since 2am… You guys should be getting a piece of it in Montreal by now..? Those odd bits of “branches” strewned across the lawn, might be antlers!

    Anyhoo, Merry Boxing-Day-Sales EVE!
    😀

  3. Mele Kalikimaka…trying again to wish all season’s greetings.
WP…ate my homework…cause I had not had enuff drinkey poos to ruin my posting skills. I think…oh well, never too many good wishes.

    Continued recovery for Andria.

Wave helloooooo to mama Mallozzi who again is in her element cooking.

  4. Wow, that food looks great as always, but I just came back from Christmas dinner with my step-mom’s great-niece’s place (where they invited me at least a month ago) and they had a HUGE spread of food. I am so stuffed! But happy. I’m off to Nova Scotia tomorrow to visit my brother and his family, traveling by ferry to Digby where he is picking me up. Looking forward to it.

Do I see macarons there? How can they not be all gone already!? Oh yeah, all the other food! 🙂

The dogs look happy, and they certainly did have a great breakfast – all I had was a bowl of Raisin Bran!

A very happy and relaxing evening and Boxing Day to everyone there Joe, and to all you other blog readers!

  5. Merry Christmas Joe and Akemi and all the family of Joe and the pups, and to all the friends on the blog. Glad Joe that you are close enough to spend time with family at this of year. and wishes for a very hapyy healthy and prosperous (smooth sailing) new year. I know its next week, but getting wishes in on a head start. Lots of wishes.

  6. Have Lulu’s ears grown since she has been at grandma’s house? They look humongous! Maybe every time she steals a dog toy they grow a little?

I just sat down for the first time in two days. Cooking in the kitchen for hours and hours. My feet hurt sooooo bad!! 🙁

  7. Merry Christmas to Joe, Akemi, Mrs. Mallozzi, Andria, and all the furry kids!

And a special get well soon to Andria!

Not so relaxed here; due to all the cooking. For our Christmas dinner, it was roast duck (complete with orange sauce), stuffing (prepared on the side), green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, and a cranberry/raspberry salad. And for dessert it was Pumpkin pie and a Oreo chocolate cake (for everyone but me).

And now we’re relaxing by enjoying a couple of movies to round out the evening.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!

  8. Hope you’re all enjoying equally relaxed Thursday (It IS Thursday, isn’t it?).

i think so. i’ve been a bit unsure about which days is which this week. it seems like it was monday just yesterday.

merry christmas to all of you there & i hope your sister is doing better.

  9. Nice haul Joe. Aren’t you glad you’re driving instead of flying. 😀

Lulu looks so cute with her….. crab?

Merry Christmas to the Mallozzi Clan, all two- and four-footed members.

More wishes for a speedy recovery for Andria.

  10. Ponytail: I hope your feet feel better today! 😆 on Lulu comment.

    Merry Christmas Everyone!

How is your Sis doing today?

    Love the doggie pics!

  11. Wow, just crossing the Bay of Fundy on the ferry and it’s just a little rough, LOL. The banging when the props come out of the water is a little disconcerting!

  12. Since I’m half Italian and the official hostess of the Christmas Eve family gathering, the 23rd and 24th are a cooking frenzy. Christmas Day is a day we spend with close friends. We have dinner together: spinach crepes, beets with orange sauce, decadent mashed potatoes, green beans, and my home-made croissants. And that means that my Christmas morning is spent baking croissants (I make the dough Christmas Eve to save time).

And now, it’s off to work I go! Happy Boxing Day everyone!

And, by the way, the food looks fabulous and your family knows just the right kind of presents to get for you!

  13. Merry Christmas to you and your family! I hope you sister is feeling better.

We enjoyed the pictures of the dogs, so sweet. I baked gingerbread men for my three border collies (adopted in July, their first Christmas with us) and now they think any cookies coming out of the oven are for them. When I turn on the mixer, they spring up and crowd around me, noses sniffing the air. Then they herd me from the oven to the cooling racks on the island, standing guard while “their” cookies cool. Last night I tripped over little Oscar and nearly dumped a pan of hot coconut macaroons on his head. Hmm…perhaps this was no accident?

    Happy Boxing Day to everyone!

  14. Hey my friends. I haven’t abandoned the blog. I can’t believe I haven’t been able to read the blog since–gosh–like the end of October? I will catch up as life slows down a bit next week. I wanted to wish the Mallozzi Family a wonderful Christmas holiday. I hope all of you did, too. I was home for a full 2-1/2 hours yesterday in between all my pet sitting from dawn until night and I’m not recovering well from my surgery because I haven’t been able to rest. Every day I think — I’m going to read ONE entry and then I can’t. Beyond frustrating. Happy Boxing Day to my Canadian friends. And with that, I’m headed out to my afternoon rounds. XXOO
