The first time I’d ever heard about Production Designer Ian Brock was several months ago when I was having dinner with a fellow producer. We were discussing production challenges and the benefits of hiring talented people capable of making efficient use of often limited resources when my dining companion suddenly sat back and informed me: “Ian Brock! He’s a genius!”.
Genius? “That’s a mighty big word,”I remember thinking. According to my associate, he was not only incredibly good at production design, he was incredibly good at production design without going over budget. “But GENIUS?”I asked.
“His work,”I was assured, “is efficient but visually stunning.”
And that’s something I can now personally attest to. With the help of his Art Department team and the construction department, Ian’s vision for our ship, The Raza, is rapidly taking shape. And it’s looking mighty awesome…
Yep. Genius!
Hey Ian!!
That bridge set looks fantastic already. Can’t wait to see it finished!
Its all looking so amazing, I love how fast it’s being built too, you sure you don’t have Asurans from SGA building it? 😛
It’s great to see it all coming together and meet the people behind-the-scenes!
Those pictures are awesome, especially the stolen one. I’m a little surprised how low the ceiling is. I thought it would be high as you would need room for the big cameras. No?
I can almost picture the finished product…almost.
Say, Joe, after a long and very hard day wandering around set to check on progress, you may want to try out some restaurants. I found this: http://www.toronto.com/restaurants/articles/best-french-restaurants-in-toronto/. Could you maybe try one or two of these places and let me live vicariously through you? They look great.
Very cool! What other shows has Ian worked on?
Looking good!
And those lower ceilings will discourage swordplay on the bridge.
Welcome, Ian.
Are all of you East Coast folks okay with all that snow?
Wishing you all the best helps, you are getting it, thanks Ian, nice to meet you. Be aware, Joe likes to take pictures, thanks Joe..(and Trevor). Like seeing the grain of the wood used, neat designs. I have a plant table we built that it looks like an alien in it, kinda cool. Have a great day!!
It is fascinating to get to see this process step-by-step from beginning to end. Thank you, Joe, very much for sharing your “baby” with us. 🙂
Unrelated but kinda eerie. Just read this article that claims that Supermassive Black holes in the universe are aligned?
