What it’s about: The sequel to 21 Jump Street sees our heroes go undercover at a local college.
What it’s got working for it: The first movie wasn’t bad.
What’s it’s got going against it: The original screenwriter returns – with two more writers. Three times as good or too many cooks?
Just saw X-Men Days of Future Past today. EXCELLENT!!
Looks like I’ll be spending more time outside this June. Who am I kidding, I’d be doing that, anyway.
I always figured “Window of Opportunity” was the definitive sci-fi treatment of that concept. Anything else is superfluous.
Spent a rather exhausting day today volunteering with the Nature Conservancy of Canada helping do maintenance on one of their trails in the area. Because the weed whacker blade broke, we had to clear almost half a kilometre (!) of brush by hand, with yours truly on point using the heavy duty (and I do mean *heavy*) garden shears. Then, came home and finished the second coat of paint on the upstairs stairs and hallway, and then up my step-mom’s for a visit.
I’m tired.
Oh, I should give special mention to Star Trek:TNG’s “Cause and Effect” for a good time looping story as well.
Speaking of Channing Tatum (22 JUMP STREET), it’s interesting that his career’s apparently more prolific that that of his STOP-LOSS (2008) colleague, Ryan Phillpe (the lead in STOP-LOSS).

I fell asleep watching Godzilla. Apparently if I’m ever suffering from insomnia ANY Godzilla movie made past 1990 will cure that.
It’s a shame they didn’t call it All You Need Is Kill after the Light Novel its based on. While I’m sure Edge of Tommorow will be very loosely based on it, I’ll check it out anyway.
Oh and I’m surprised Godzilla did so well, there must be like a dozen movies out based on the name. It just goes to show that there’s demand for these kind of movies.
Thanks for answering my question in the last post! It’s certainly helpful to know what industry standards are for such things, especially for newbies.
About 22 Jump Street, I do think the first one was funny, but I think that a lot of the humor came from the idea of obvious adults pretending to be high schoolers. The reason this sequel doesn’t interest me is that 20-somethings, or even 30-somethings, in college is really pretty normal, so you don’t have the humorous setup of older people trying to pass as teens. And I did think the first movie would have been better if it were, like, PG rated. So I have a feeling this movie will just have all the overly dirty parts without the underlying funny setup.
