So, what did you all accomplish today?

  1. “So, what did you all accomplish today?”

The usual Sunday routine for me:
Picked up my parents and another elderly person who does not drive anymore and took them to church.
After church made lunch for my parents.
Since it was my dad’s birthday we had his favorite, steak, homemade potato salad, and pudding cake.
    Came home.
Watched my driver wreak out of the NASCAR race. (24)
Played with my beagle then took a nap.
    Did the laundry.
Played with my beagle then took a nap.
Cleared off a cluttered table and shredded some documents.
Played with my beagle then took a nap.
Put a hem in a slip.
    Time for bed…

All in all, just another lazy day.

  2. Continued watching Stargate SG1 (watching ALL episodes from the very first to the last), upto Season 7. My wife made a FANTASTIC lunch for friends and family. (Chicken breast stuffed with Goat cheese, sun dried tomatos, roasted garlic. Coated with French mustard and a dusting of breadcrumbs.) Wasted a few hours trying to find a theater where Avengers was NOT sold out and failed miserably. (I have not seen lines this long since ET)

  3. But did ya POOPS? That’s the most important thing of every day! πŸ˜€

Me? Well, just finished looking at the beautiful moon through Mr. Das’ new telescope lens. Could see the shadows in the craters and the scars and everything. Just fantastic!

Before that, watched the newest Sherlock ep and it was EXCELLENT!!! This is the must see series of the decade.

Before that, took a power nap. πŸ™‚

Before that, finished off the rum cordials.

Before that, went to the local Mexican joint and enjoyed dinner – chicken quesadilla and sangria – to the not-so-soothing tunes of a live mariachi band.

Before that, spent the day out of town at an edifying faith-based gathering. Boy oh boy, do I have lots to work on. πŸ˜›

Before that, I kicked the bathroom scale and said a naughty word. 😑

Before that, I ate a banana and two hard boiled eggs with oj and coffee and a piece of delicious homemade buttery crumb cake. Oh, and a handful of dark chocolate rum cordials. And a chocolate chip cookie. That’s all diet food, right?

Before that I laid…lied…lyed…I stayed flat in bed, thinking about dark chocolate rum cordials. πŸ™‚

    das

  4. Got up at the crack of dawn to play handbells. Went to brunch. Surfed the net for a couple of hours. Played bells in a concert this evening. Post-concert relaxation.

  5. On Saturday:

to celebrate FREE COMIC BOOK DAY dressed up the dogs like the Avengers
(the one dressed up like Iron Man got drunk, not sure if he was just trying to get into character or celebrating Cinco de Mayo)

    On Sunday:

lied about what I did on Saturday

  6. Congratulations on the outline! Sorry to hear about the ticket. Bummer.

I cleaned. Not much, but enough to say I cleaned.

@Deni Riley is such a cutie! I grew up with boxers, and her coloring reminds of one of the pups we had. She has such a sweet face! And boxers have the best butt waggle of any dogs, ever. πŸ™‚

  7. Church
Possible job lead from church member
    Nature hike
    Ice cream shop
Bar-b-que party (questions I got right in board game: creator of TV series ER, polluted Asian port city)
Learned my sun allergy is back
Ran out of time for church voting meeting
Saw the tab where I’d searched “ER” on Netflix this morning, became less impressed with my trivia prowess, more impressed with my luck
    Visited In-laws
Wrote up questions for Garry Brown
Put out donations for Kidney foundation

    ——-

Way to go on the final 8 acts. πŸ™‚

  8. Looked up flights for VanGroovy trip 28 May–2June…for two! Joe already knows; we decided to spend our 30th wedding-anniversary week in BC. πŸ˜€

  9. I woke up with a bad headache, which I had most of the day, but I did go out to take my step-mom out for our weekly Sunday lunch. Oh, and laundry. Exciting, I know.

However, on Saturday evening I did try making some maple macarons. And they turned out…okay. A few shells turned out great but a lot of them cracked on cooking, preventing the feet from forming. I *think* I may have not let them sit long enough before putting them in the oven, to let the “skin” form. Any ideas? Still, they sure taste good.

  10. Got up early for church, and stopped by Jack in the Box drive-thru on the way home to pick up my well balanced and nutritious lunch.
Changed into my β€˜lounge around the house clothes’ so wouldn’t get any Jack in the Box taco sauce on my Sunday best.
    Scratched the beagle’s tummy.
Scratched the long-haired Dachshund mix’s tummy.
Scratched the elderly wire-haired terrier mix’s tummy.
    Read this blog.
    Checked Facebook.
    Took a nap
Got up and fixed a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for supper.
Shared some of the chips (well, actually, MOST of the chips) with the Beagle, long-haired Dachshund mix, and elderly wire-haired terrier mix.
Scratched the Beagle’s tummy and gave him a treat.
Scratched the long-haired Dachshund mix’s tummy and gave her a treat.
Scratched the elderly wire-haired terrier mix’s tummy and gave her a treat.
Read my Kindle for a couple of hours.
Watched TV for a couple of hours.
Went to bed, sleeping in what little space was left free by the Beagle, long-haired Dachshund mix, and wire-haired terrier mix.

  11. hmm, not sure I can remember that far back,
Had a shower, went shopping, grocery, fabric store, sporting goods, came home, tacos for supper(not lame,,lol)(easy) , shredded 2 bags(must have been the day for it), watched Once Upon A Time, yeah Robert Carlyle, watched Sherlock Holmes on PBS, agree with Das, a very good one, late shower, hit the sack, thinking of all the stuff I did not get to, but tomorrow is here already, maybe I need another list… Hope you slept well. The veggies look delicious.
AND Carl,, how did you do in marathon, glad to see you survived. What kind of shoes do you recommend for a run like this?

  12. I stood out in a field drinking a leftover cinco de mayo beer (cheap and mexican) while watching the cub scouts fish in Jonas’ grandpa’s farm pond. Also occasionally whacking worms in half. And my son caught a bluegill! That’s wasn’t all, but it was the highlight.

@das, I think you are channeling my maternal grandmother!

  13. I did lesson planning for my boys for the coming week. (We homeschool.)

I spent some time working on the book I’m writing.

I went for a mile walk.

I made some video recordings for the spring fragrance study I’m a part of.

    I took a nap.

All in all, a productive day.

Have a great day today (Monday)!!!!

  14. Um, dinked around in the yard with the old lady cats until the barking neighbor dog got on our nerves. Let the Siamese cat out until he freaked out and wanted in, about two minutes. Gave the neighbor cat a treat because he has a sweet, serious face and sits on my back porch looking quizzical.
Tried to water the garden, but the yard water is off.
Dinked around in the kitchen, doing daily kitchen stuff.
Dinked around with my art projects.
    Paid a bill.
Tried to read, impossible with a sinus headache.
Made a list of chores and didn’t do any of them. Today is chore day.
    Sorted the Sunday coupons.
Watched the young robin on the windowsill who was “visiting” its own reflection. This took up more time than you think it would. Cats liked it too.
Got insulted in an online forum. Got offline because who needs that?
Made a sad dinner because hubby is on the road again.
Watched something terrible on TV, and then Amazing Race.
Toyed with my blog and deleted it as incessant whining.

    Geez, that’s pathetic.

  15. I spent the weekend with my niece and her two kids (3 & 5) at their campground. Stacked two cords of oak firewood, mounted a TV, grilled zucchini and turkey breast on an open fire, and made kids cry. All in all, a fulfilling weekend.

  16. @Carl How well did you and your daughter so? Congratulations nonetheless. That’s quite an accomplishment.

@Baterista9: That sounds like a lot of fun.

My weekend is outlined in the previous post. You post too late for me now, so I get the posts in the morning.

  17. @Carl: Congratulations on the marathon!

@Joe: Congratulations on finishing that script outline! I’m glad we were able to help. πŸ˜‰

@das: πŸ˜€ Now I want rum cordials. Or brandy cordials.
    Missed the moon (see below).

@Akemi: Oh my goodness! You look amazing!

I got up early on Sunday and took a 31 mile bike ride in (an actual riding time of) just over 3 hours! Well, actually it took a bit longer since some storms rolled in and forced us to take shelter…. in a Starbucks. We had a lovely chat with another stranded biker.

Then I came home and took my kids out for lunch (it was supposed to be brunch, but I was delayed (see above)).

    Then I did the laundry.

Then I fed and walked the dog.

Then I cooked a lovely salmon teriyaki (broiled not grilled as originally planned – rain again), with rice, twice cooked green beans and fresh pineapple sides.

Then I watched Chopped Champions and Iron Chef Battle Peaches.

Then I at a pecan caramel sundae because I was really hungry from all the exercise.

  18. Saturday:

    – Sang (with choir) at 1st Holy Communion at my chruch.
    – Watch NY Rangers lose to Caps
    – Went out with my boyfriend for Mexican…and then saw The Avengers (THE BEST MOVIE!! :D)

    πŸ™‚

  19. I sat in a car for over 10 hours on a long trip back home after a mini-vacation. The mini-vacation was fun, but short. The trip home was not fun, but long. That seems unfair, now that I think about it.

  20. Took care of dogs. Took care of cats. Had 2 minute shower. Fed dogs. Fed cats. Cleaned up after dogs and cats. Made dinner. Ate it. Got foot badly scratched by cat. Went to bed. Heh, Mr. Deni’s home today. Little does he know it’s my day off. πŸ˜‰

@paloosa: Thank you! The butt waggle is really the cutest ever! I like the strange little noises that come out of her (and all brachycephalic dogs), especially when she first wakes up.

By the way, guys, she’s learned sit, come, shake hands, down, high five and NO BITING. She starts biting, you tell her NO BITING, she quickly fake yawns and gives kisses. πŸ™‚

  21. @das: Can’t you write a book, start a blog/comedy series? You words never fail to amuse or cause a pause to think.

As for Sun, read a book by a favourite author while sitting in the sun and “supervising” my hubby haul brush out of the horse paddocks. Unfortunately (or fortunately), messed up my arm and couldn’t help πŸ™‚

  22. Yesterday? Sunday School, errands, lunch with a friend (BBQ-awesome), cleaned house, and read a book. It was a good day.

How did Carl’s marathon go? That is a great father-daughter activity.

Thank you, for the mother day selection of books. I’ve been buying my mom books and needs some more ideas. Does your mom recommend anything?

    Akemi: you look so cute!

The food looks very good. Is that a homemade cheesecake? Did you use one of JeffW’s recipes? Blueberries are kind of bland to me, I’d probably use raspberries (tangy). The blueberries look very striking though.

Parking ticket? I hope you don’t get booted!

    Congrats on finishing the outline!

  23. @ PBMom – How’s Patrick doing? Is it still smooooth sailing at bedtime? And nice gifties for the teachers! Very thoughtful. πŸ™‚

@ Carl – Living up to whole greyhound thing, I see. πŸ˜‰ Congrats to you and your daughter on your run!

    @ DP – You may laugh, but I was actually dead serious. πŸ˜€ … πŸ™‚ … 😐 … πŸ˜• … speaking of which… BRB!

@ noellam – Is that a good thing, or a bad thing?

@ JimFromJersey – Sounds like loads of fun, especially the crying part! Do tell what evils you did!

@ Sparrowhawk – We missed the Super Moon on Saturday due to cloud cover. Seems every time there’s some great astronomical event, we get clouds. πŸ™ Also, from now on I’m calling you Sparrowlance Hawkstrong. πŸ˜‰

@ Deni – I do the same thing when Mr. Das tells me ‘no bites!’ πŸ˜‰

@ Bilo&Bella&Kasper – I need a muse. Joey’s my muse, as is this blog. It helps me focus my thoughts and ideas. Otherwise I’d be all over the place…more than normal, that is. πŸ˜›

    das

  24. Yesterday(Sunday), at work. Today (May Day Bank Holiday too), at work. In fact, it was my weekend in πŸ™

  25. Work a bit on my web app. Then got stuck.
Did a bit of 3d modelling
    Watch Once upon a time
    Watch Homeland
Finish of reading DS9 Novel Rising Sun

    Went to bed.

  26. Been decorating a couple of rooms all weekend..well stripping down walls and paint and preparing them for renovation work..backbreaking and boring work but will be worth it in the end..

I see on Twitter that Michael Shanks is extolling the virtues of “Scarpetta” and its laid back and delicious cuisine…

When I get the chance to visit TO again I think I really do have to go there..

  27. @ Carl Binder
    Nice Job!

    @ Joe
I finished a presentation which I have to present to the bosses of my boss on Thursday. Until I finished it, my nerves finished me… So today I went home pretty happy for a change πŸ™‚

  28. Sunday? I flew to Milan, ate average airport food, and had a dinner at an Italian sub shop (as in a sub shop that is in Italy).

Monday has been much better; aside from the work, we went to Acqua E Farina (http://www.acquaefarina.net) in Agrate Brianza and had seafood, prosciutto, and a Milano pizza. I’ll post pictures on the Chicagoland Foodie Group photo page soon…

    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/chicagolandfoodietour/photos/album/0/list

Then I’ll get to sleep (it’ll be 11pm here soon).

  29. Played some field hockey and defended like a champ, but other than that, I didn’t really accomplish anything. I see you picked up Gotham Central. I picked it up last week and and half way through book one. I’m really liking it, but I’m a bit of a cop show junkie… Tell us what you think of it when you’ve read it.

  30. Hey Joe

Pretty usual Sunday for me, laundry, floors and dishes.

Oh, and I loaned my car to my 2nd oldest daughter and she gave me something a little weird (to me anyway). She packed me a pulled-pork on a bun and told me to heat the bun and pork then put this ‘sauce’ on it (it’s spices in some sort of liquid) then to top it off with the baggie of coleslaw. Now I like coleslaw, but I’m not sure it goes on top of that gorgeous looking pork-on-a-bun. Never heard of that before. Have you? Or anyone here for that matter??

    Elminster

  31. Went to a a mini Movie marathon curtesy of a friend, ate his Jamaican Jerk grilled chicken, chips, dip, veggies, dip, soda, and my homemade from scratch New York style Rum Cheesecake. The movies were: 1) The Mummy (Boris Karloff edition, always the best!), 2) Moon (a fantastic Sci-fi flick), and 3) The Final (a horror film inwhich the high school bullies get theirs at the hands of the very kids they’ve been bullying; yet another truly awesome gore fest complete with hilarity!). So all in all, a blast of a day!

  32. The manager of my apartment building had to show my apartment to potential renters (hopefully without my dog around to freak out when strangers entered), so my Sunday was spent walking the dog (Walk #1), then passing her off to my friend for Walk #2, then going to Van Dusen Gardens with my gallant swain, then bringing beers to trade to get my dog back from my friend, then hanging out at my friend’s place drinking said beers, then taking my dog back home (Walk #3), then catching up on some Castle.

@ Elminster – Yup, I’ve definitely had coleslaw on pulled pork sandwiches before. I think maybe about 50% of the pulled pork sandwiches I’ve had were served with coleslaw on them.
