Hmmmmmmmmmm. I didn’t think I’d make it today. Well, since I’m here…
I finished up my morning work-out at a little after 7:00 a.m. and stepped into the adjoining theater room. I caught a whiff of Lulu’s “little accident” before I actually saw it. And, quite frankly, it was impossible to miss given that she had stepped in it and tracked it all over the carpeting. I spent the next half hour, peroxide in hand, disinfecting and scrubbing the place down. And my day went downhill from there.
Suffice it to say, it wasn’t a total drag. Between the phone call from Hell and the utter impossibility of cutting an episode in the cramped confines of an editing suite with a flatulent French bulldog sitting on my lap, there were some highlights. I did find time to swing by set where the gals were cabled up and making like stage version Peter Pans. It’s nice to see that Amanda has seemingly conquered her fear of heights – at least for the duration of this episode. Maybe I CAN get her wrestle that alligator in the finale. And for all those interested, Harmony is coming along nicely. With it, Midway, Kindred I and II, and Last Man closing out the season, there’s no doubt that we’ll certainly be finishing VERY strong. Finally, lunch off the truck was quite good today: herb chicken, accompaniments, and tuxedo bars for dessert. Mmmmm. Tuxedo bars. I picked up two with the excuse that I was getting one for Paul in case he missed the dessert tray. I got up to the writers’ room and found Paul sitting there with two tuxedo bars of his own. “I picked up an extra for you,”was his excuse. Needless to say, we finished off all four.
Well, the 2007 t.v. season has kicked off and there are a couple of new shows I’m looking forward to checking out. First and foremost: K-Ville starring the brilliant Anthony Anderson. Holy crap has he come a long way from Kangaroo Jack! Reaper and Pushing Daisies are two others that stand out amidst the crowded field. Like last year, Fondy and I will check out everything and then drop the shows as we lose interest. Looking back, I don’t think there was a new show last year that captured us from start to finish.
Today’s blog is dedicated to Vicki, roguemuse’s little sister, and editor Rick Martin who had to put up with an effervescent Lulu.
Today’s pics: Ivon on set, Alex corrals the little devil, tuxedo bars, too much fun.

Tim writes: “Could you perhaps suggest a few sci fi novels for the average techno geek who likes powerful story lines?”
Answer: Sure. Check out the following books by Iain M. Banks: Consider Phlebas, The Player of Games, and Use of Weapons.
Steph writes: “Have you seen any musicals? If so, which were your favorites?”
Answer: I enjoy musicals about as much as I enjoy pulling out my fingernails with a pair of pliers. My favorite? Probably my left hand index finger.
Anonymous #1 writes: “ It seems as though, from some of your comments, as though you feel some disdain for GW.”
Answer: Not at all. Gateworld does more to support our show than any other website out there. I responded the way I did because the individual who posted the comment referred specifically to something said on the Gateworld forums.

Answers: 1) Yes. There will be at least one “stick upside the head” shot in every episode of season 5. 2) I have Carl working on the exact timing. 3) Yes. She will also kick Zelenka on two separate occasions. 4) Although we are only producing 20 episodes this season, 21 of them will be McKay-centered episodes. 5) No. The ones pictured on my blog are on loan to me. 6) 2007 sounds like a pretty good year. 7) Not bad. Not bad at all.

If your work schedule permitted, would you be even remotely interested in attending as a guest?”
Answer: That’s very kind of you and I’ve heard plenty of great things about Dragon*Con but I’m pretty certain it would conflict with my work schedule.

I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen you mention it before, but did you not watch “Heroes?” I think that had some of the best writing on TV in many years.
A repeat from yesterday, since i got it in too late:
I was just reading the review of the season 3 box set, which confirmed there are no actor commentaries for season 3 :(. That was a big disappointment for me, as i always look forward to them. I know you’re not directly involved with the DVDs, but i was wondering if you knew the story behind that? I’d be very disappointed (even more so) if they didn’t return to actor commentaries for the season 4 set. 🙁
Beside the fact that Sam will kick some ass this season :-)!!! Is there any moments where she will feel vulnerable…or guilty?
GeekBoy finally made it to the head of the queue for World War Z! I picked it up from the library this morning.
Doggy presents…yeah, been there. Not fun. Happy Monday!
Are the uniforms going to be leather? Or was that just for the promo pics?
Ever listen to any of Leonard Nimoy’s albums?

Farty pooch? Have you tried charcoal tablets crushed up in the doggy bowl?

hi, joe,
1)you make me laugh.
2)will we be seeing sam’s personal quarters in atlantis?
sally 😀
Hey, I don’t mind the leather…reminds me of Farscape…nothing like a little scifi in leather to finish off the day.
That was close Joe; but no matter. However, if it ever did become a matter, like if you did miss a day, whatever would you do?!
Oh…less than 11 days left!!!!!! Wooo!
I hit my local used bookstore today to try to pick up a copy of Excession as the end of the month is drawing near-no luck. They did however have Inversions and Look to Windward by Iain M. Banks so I picked those up instead. The lady that runs the place told me a month ago when I went in that his books don’t come in often and sell quick when they are there. I tried finding his stuff on amazon and such, but they want alot of money for it, even used! Powells in Portland has Excession at least so I will pick it up along with my textbooks when I drive through on Wednesday towards Seattle.
Hopefully I will still have enough time to finish before you start your discussion on it. When do you plan on that being exactly (so I know how quickly I need to read)?
I forgot to write down the titles of some other books that you and others have discussed here that sounded interesting and so tried to skim through what was there to see if a name jumped out at me…As I started working my way through the approximately 6400 science fiction novels on the shelves I realized how insane I was to think I could find any of them and so gave up till another day. 😉
Cheers, Dani
P.S. Stop by the BookBin on Court St. if you’re ever in Salem and want/need some more books. lol.
Hiya, Joe. I was wondering, when you hear one of the actors saying ‘Last time, on Stargate Atlantis’, is that recorded for each time, or do you have a sound bite of each actor saying it for use later?
Tanya said…

LOL Hey she might experience a twinge of remorse about kicking Radek around. Twice. 😉
So, are we to take it that there will be no “Stargate: The Musical” episode like Buffy did? How sad.
I can’t remember if this question has been asked/answered before, so I’ll ask it now: Will Carter ever find out that McKay named an alien whale after her? If so, will we get to see her reaction?
Did you hear that Robert Jordan died? I never read any of his books, but I can’t help feeling bad for his fans who now have no ending to this ridiculously long series. That’s the nice thing about TV shows. If someone dies, there’s always plenty of other people to finish the story.
…Wow, that sounded really cold and heartless.
What a random video ;D!
I’ve already planned for my roommate to drive me to Borders right after morning classes to pick up S1, S3 and ADB. Thank goodness for 40% email coupons!!! *dies from happiness*
In this new dvd set that’s coming out tomorrow, what is the extra special feature that we do not want to miss?
Sorry that you’re day has been rough *showers with hugs and chocolates*. Maybe you’ll feel better after giving that Alex fellow a raise. Just because. ;D
Hi, Joe!
Thanks again for all your hard work on the blog. I really enjoy your commentary, and of course LOVE the photos, video clips, and the spoilers.
🙂
David Nykl mentioned in his blog:
http://lettersfrompegasus.blogspot.com/
that he had “a recent six episode dry spell for the good doctor” on SGA.
Of course, this has set a certain group of fans in another whirligig of posting, blaming Amanda Tapping for Dr. Zelenka’s absence for six episodes in a row. (I know, what ARE THEY smoking?)
However, when I checked IMDB for the number of episodes Dr. Z is in every year, it appears that Dr. Z was in:
Season One – 11 episodes
Season Two – 10 episodes
Season Three – 13 episodes
Season Four (tentative so far) – 7 appearances (however, IMDB only has the tentative cast for episodes through episode 12 only at this time)
Would you happen to know how many episodes Dr. Z will be in this year? And, if possible (as long as you’re not breaking any confidentialies, oaths, promises, or Canadian laws) reveal if there is actually a logical explanation for the six weeks MIA of Dr. Z?
Thank you, Joe!
Best wishes, Morjana

Nah. Go to the one in West Salem on Edgewater, called Readers’ Guide to Recycled Literature (I know, a seriously cumbersome name). I used to work there. Nice place. Much more labyrinthine than the Book Bin, like a used book store should be.

Not fond of musicals, eh? I’ve got just the musical for you…
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
It’s my favorite. There’s a dvd out there of a performance with the original cast (look for the one with Angela Lansbury in it). Do NOT get the revival version, it sucks a whole lot of ass. But really, it’s unlike anything else. See the original before the movie comes out!
Ever thought about coming down to Australia? I know we’d love to have you.
If i had a spec script or a pitch on a ‘Stargate movie’- not entirely related to either sg-1 or sga, would i be allowed to pitch the idea or would that still be prohibited?
Who would i talk to if i were allowed? any phone number?
Oh! Les Miserables is wonderful
well, if you see it with Colm Wilkinson, which is fantastic as Jean Valjean.
But I love the book (It’s the only book I have ever had a hard time reading the end because I couldn’t stop crying) It’s delightfully depressing =).
Do you like rescue me? It’s very crude but it’s a great show, clever shocking and funny in its own twisted way.
If someone made you a watercolor of your dogs for your b-day where will one send it?
“Fondy and I will check out everything and then drop the shows as we lose interest. Looking back, I don’t think there was a new show last year that captured us from start to finish.”
I really suggest you watch Prison Break, it’s quite interesting, and sorry ’bout your bad day. Means you should be having a great day soon.
Hi Joe:
Those little film clips you include are wonderful, but they are too short. Is there any way that you can make them run longer?
You are still my top choice celebrity for April’s Fan party. Keep that calendar clear. Remember, you promised…
Patricia
What exactly are tuxedo bars? They certainly look delicious.
Yeep. Sounds like a trying day. Hope the next few go better… sadly I won’t be around to find out as I’m being banished to the French office for two thrilling days of campaign meetings.. and two terribly exciting evenings in a hotel with no internet *sob*.
Till Thursday then…. adieu, adieu…
Why do you hate the character of Elizabeth Weir?
What’s a Tuxedo bar?
Another question, to resolve a dispute between me and my friend. Gas or electric ovens?
Um, what’s a tuxedo bar? I don’t think we get those in the UK.
Nice pics & video, I hope Lulu isn’t ill after her accident.
Awwww no, she cant kick Radek around! he’s so cute and sweet! Bad Sam.
LOL Farty Lulu, Maybe that’s her revenge for the cone LOL.
anywhoo loyts of hugs and virtual chocolate for you for the bad day thing. Thanks for blogging inspite of that.

Dear Joe
Please could you dedicate your blog of September 19 to my son, Stephen, who will be enrolling at Universtiy on that day. Needless, to say, he is a Stargate/Atlantis fan (favourite character: Teal’c).
Pam
Of all the couples of episode like The Storm/ The eye, The siege (I, II, III), ect… What do you think about the three part middle season: This Mortal Coil/ Be all my sins remermber’d/ Spoils of war?
They are the best?
Is a curious thing, but I see interviews of all actors and they have almost in every interview respond to questions about the changes, less the protagonist, Torri Higginson. She still have not say nothing about this. It’s because you all (TPTB) have recommended her not say anything, because all about the fate of her character in four season is a spoiler, or something like that?
I had to laugh in sympathy to your Lulu clean-up duties as that’s what I got to do yesterday. Except mine was of the non-pee variety and not very easy to clean up, either. (Trying not to get too graphic, here.) Since this is Day 3 of this lovely little illness, off Maddy goes to the vet today.
Perhaps you should dedicate today’s blog to Lulu, Maddy and the joys of rug cleaner.
Hi Joe
1.Does Sam’s status of ex-Tok’ra(Goual’d) host get addressed at all in S4?
2. Are any of the next characters mentioned this season:Daniel, Vala, Cam, Jack, Landry, Cassie?
3. Who will you off this season from the main characters?
Please respond to at least 2 of the qs!
Hi Joe. Have you Frank Herbert’s Dune? All of them?
Hi Joe,
Glad to see you are enjoying life to the full!!! 😉
I’ve just checked amazon.com and Atlantis Season 3 Complete is currently at No.7 in the bestseller list for all DVD’s. How cool is that!!!! It is a shame about there being no actors commentaries but really, they get enough attention as it is- the DVD’s are a great opportunity for other team members to contribute.
Here in the UK, Season 3 is currently airing on Sky Two as a precursor to the start of Season 4 on Sky One on 9th October. They are running a competition to vote for your favourite ever Atlantis episode and they will show the winners in the week before the new series starts – which got me wondering – if you had to pick a favourite Top 3 of all Atlantis episodes to date, what would they be?
Thanks
Janie

You and my husband too. He hates them…like fingernails on a blackboard! He will leave the room if I put one on!
Oh… sorry you had a bad start to your day!
Are you a big Eurka fan? I thought the season Premiere was alright was hoping fo a little more… Ah well I know what show to go to for that!

NO! NO! NO! You must clear your schedule as you three are MY penultimate picks for a Con!!! Seriously, please, please, please go! You would have a blast and so would all YOUR fans!

Doh! Now you’ve done it…you have just encouraged all the idiots out there that don’t get snarkasm. I’m warning you…there will be a bazillion more questions like these!;-) LOL
Teyla’s “crush” mentioned in Sunday will be revealed this season. True or False?
Syncronicity is a wonderful thing. While you were cleaning up dog crap in Canada yesterday morning, my friend Lucibelle was doing much the same in New York. She has two miniature black poodles, who frequently fight, but yesterday, in an unfocused moment, Napolean had Kiki by the neck on her back, until she peed…all over Lucibelle’s bed. Such is the wonder of dogs.
Salut joseph!!!!

Joe, Joe, Joe….
Seriously…come on! Which is it going to be? The single episode of shirtless Sheppard stick-fighting his way outta everything, the three episode arc based around his skills or at least one person getting smacked upside-the-head every episode (I’m betting on Rodney being the main victim)? You have got to stop teasing us all here!! It’s just so mean!
*sigh* These producer/writer types who never make their mind up…*grin*
Okay…echoing others, I know, but…What’s a Tuxedo bar? And apologies if I’m being a dumb Brit on that one!!
Have a better day today I hope!!!

Hi Joe,
Would you say the new leather uniforms symbolizes a little darker show for next season? BTW, I have high hopes for Season 5, the entire network is down, and Atlantis still performs in the top 3 of all the shows! 🙂
“First and foremost: K-Ville starring the brilliant Anthony Anderson. Holy crap has he come a long way from Kangaroo Jack!”
Have you had a chance to watch K-Ville? I tried to watch it last night, instead of packing, and I fell asleep.
BTW,have you ever tried watching The Office? Other than the new season of SGA, that’s the show I’m waiting for to begin.
Cher Joe,
No problem to answer in english.
Thanks
Hope today is a little better w/ Lulu at the office. Maybe carry a can of air freshener to help w/ the perfume 🙂 issue?
I am loving these little clips you are posting… any chance of one w/ Shep again? Pretty please?
So since your birthday is next month, what would you like from the fans?
Hope you have a great day, and it’s less odoriferous.
Just a commnet on the Gateworld issue and one of the posters making mention that the “tone” there has changed.
Yes maybe the “tone” at GW has changed in the past few years but you have to accept that the SHOW changed and in the eyes of many, many people NOT for the better. GW is a place that a lot of die-hard SG fans visit (some say inhabit) and when the show was in its hey-day (through season 7/8) GW was a very positive place reflecting the strength of the show.
Unfortunately as seasons 7/8, but especially 9/10, progressed there was a marked decrease in positive comments especially in seasons 9-10. I almost could not believe it when the anti-season 9 thread popped up – never before had there been such outright negativity towards the show from so many longstanding fans, that is a reflection of the change and tone of the show itself.
The folks at GW did not all of a sudden one day wake up and say as a group “let’s all start disliking SG today and bash it on GW”. It was a gradual change from positive to negative based on the direction the show chose to take which culmintaed with the negativty towards seasons 9-10.
In seasons 9-10 I agree the negativity was huge however I think that is a testament to the GW fans many of whom have been there for years – they supported the show and when they started to see it changing, and not in a good way in the opinion of many, they voiced it (if you read GW you can see that the majority do not oppose change what they oppose is the way the changes were handled and the way things were done) especially with the handling of the three original cast members who were basically treated as second class citizens or who were radically changed as characters – suffcie iot to say that in many ways the 3 main characters of the show were out of character a majority of the time in seasosn 9-10. As you can well imagine people who had watched the show for 8 years were expecting SG-1 not Stargate Command and when they did not get SG-1 with Carter, Daniel and Teal’c there was a negative reaction).
Why should the fans at GW who did not like the way the chnages were handled and implemented keep saying positive things if they think a show they once liked and respected has gone bad? Why shouldn’t they challenge the writers, directors and showrunner? Why shouldn’t they have a right to continue to epxress their opinions good or bad espcially since many can compare the original SG-1 to the bad imitation of Seasons 9-10? It’s not like the fans at GW all just came into it in Season 9 or 10 and decided to trash the show without any basis – they have history and can compare and that’s exactly what they are doing. (and yes I am a fan who watched for 8 years and stopped watching in Season 9 and I visit GW. I am not a regular poster but I lurk and I find GW fascinating especially the level of knowledge the fans have. The details from all of the seasons, it is amazing to read especially when they use that knowledge to justify their positions and opinions.)
1. Will there be a season five? 2. Do you think season four will be the best season? 3. what happend to the warship that the Ascended Ancients had in the episode “The Return” part 1?
No time for Dragon*Con Joe? Does that mean you will be busy with a season 5? Personally I was looking forward to a My Little Pony dressed up in a little suit and yellow tie with some shades. The ‘gangster’ Mallozzi look. As you can probably tell I didn’t care for that part of the panel. Although it was pretty funny watching the actor’s expressions when they were looking at them.
My favorite part of the Stargate panel was Michael and Lexa. They are so cute together, and you can tell how much they really love each other. The kindness that Michael showed towards a special someone made my respect go up for him tremendously. Michael definitely has a big heart.
Paul is such a sweetheart. I’m going to miss him on Atlantis. Claudia is so beautiful and really sweet. You could also tell on the Stargate panel that she and Michael are very close friends. I couldn’t believe how tall Jason is. I knew he was tall but it’s different when you’re up close. I could go on and on but I’ll stop now.
I would love for Michael and Lexa to go again next year along with Amanda and David. I think that would be a great panel. It would be great to have Claudia again too but she will probably be busy with her new little one.
Thank you for all of the great pictures. You’re spoiling us.
Sorry about the bad day.
Please answer my questions. 1) Is Cassie or Jack mentioned in S4 of Atlantis? 2) What is a tuxedo bar? 3) Does the fact that Sam was a Tokra host get addressed in S4 of Atlantis? 4) Why isn’t Sam getting the ATA gene? 5) Are there any alternate reality/time travel/people from the future stories coming up on Atlantis?
Sorry there’s so many questions. Thanks.
LULU has a wonderful angelic expression in that photo! Who would guess from that image that she spent most of the day being such a little stinker. (Sorry for the bad pun, I conldn’t help myself.) 🙂 Anyway, it looks like your little girl is putting her cone through every test imaginable. Do you think it will last through the entire four weeks?
Hoping the rest of your week is more pleasant than your Monday…
Just stumbled across this new chocolate and thought of you.

Bacon flavored chocolate!

“Joe says: Between the phone call from Hell and the utter impossibility of cutting an episode in the cramped confines of an editing suite with a flatulent French bulldog sitting on my lap, there were some highlights.”
How often did you have to say to the others, it was Lulu, not you farting? LOL. And did they actually believe you? My dad tried that a few times, we had to remind him that Barney had to actually be in the room before he could use that excuse. 😉
And while i’m here, can I just echo Dreams-of-Skies, sentiments. Shep getting whumped upside the head, shirtless, hot and sweaty from stick fighting… *has a fangirl moment* So, that’s what you’ve got planned for S5??!! Have I mentioned my undying luff for you lately? 😛
Before I go, totally random question, because I can. Have you ever had a fanboy moment?
*hugs*
Thanks for the goodies. 😀
Hi Joe
since we know Andee Frizzell is playing another wraith queen in the spoils of war i was wondering if she is going to appear in more season 4 episodes?
Since Dragon Con is difficult for you. As much as you might dis like Creation versus GateCon. Would you show up to the con for the Fans sake? or the Gate World dinner?
I see tape on Lulu’s cone…did the little bugger try to escape her doggy torture device? Maybe farting is phase 2 of her escape plan or just plain old revenge for thwarting her evil puppy plans! And I feel sorry for the editor! Edit suites tend to be dark, cramped and none to fragrant places without doggy farts! I’m guessing the subjection to Lulu’s explusions wasn’t voluntary??? Isn’t that breaking the Geneva convention or something?
Adding to the pet bodily fluids stories…as a wee kitten, my ginger furball once crapped on a roomies bed. The ‘gift’ was HUGE and runny…I swear the poor thing dropped half her body weight! Never had a cat do that before…I guess she was casting her opinion on the roomie who turned out to be a complete psycho bitch from hell! Not to mention once waking up to a strange wet squishy feeling between my toes, which turned out to be another kittie’s gift of mouse guts puked onto my feet while I slept. That cat really loved me….
Soooooooo got any more ‘Kindred’ pics???? 🙂
Would you ever consider an open casting call, so those without agency references could audition as well?
It is my birthday on Wednesday the 19th. I am 22 (for the second time) can you dedicate this blog to me, please.
I am now off to see if I can order the series 3 DVD in the UK.
Best wishes to Lulu and her stinky butt.
Joe – I want to take a moment to borrow your blog, just for a little bit. But, before I do that, I think I had (at one time) suggested Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series to you. I suggest it to you again today, in honor and memoriam of his work.
Shawna said….
“Did you hear that Robert Jordan died? I never read any of his books, but I can’t help feeling bad for his fans that now have no ending to this ridiculously long series. That’s the nice thing about TV shows. If someone dies, there’s always plenty of other people to finish the story.
…Wow, that sounded really cold and heartless.”
Yes it does sound cold and heartless. I sure hope I’m misinterpreting your intent. But if not, than I’m really sorry you feel that way.
I happen to be a Robert Jordan fan. I had not yet heard the news about his passing. So I do thank you for alerting me to it. I had not checked his blog in a long while and I’m now kicking myself for not staying more connected to his lengthy battle with illness.
For other RJ fans out there who had not found his blog, it’s here….I encourage you to read more about this intriguing person.
http://www.dragonmount.com/RobertJordan/
The interesting thing is, in one of the recent posts on his blog, RJ’s cousin talks about Robert’s work on the last book in the series and how he was ensuring the story WOULD be told.
Peace be with you, RJ, and with the family and friends you leave behind.
Thanks, Joe, if you do decide to post this comment. As an avid reader, I hope you understand a fan wanting to offer a small tribute to an author she found very engaging and entertaining. I suppose it would be odd for me to ask you dedicate today’s blog to RJ since I don’t think you’d had a chance yet to read any of his work, but I’ll ask anyway.
Thanks,

Hi Joe,
I was wondering if all the team members would be in all the episodes this season.
And why don’t the SGA teams have names, like SG1,2,3…?
a) Is the “Joseph Mallozzi Ph.D.” (author of “Latin for the Novice”) the same Dr. Mallozzi who lost his anime collection to Zelenka in a chess match? b) Would you be prepared to film a cameo appearance as “Dr. Mallozzi” in an episode of Atlantis? c) Failing that, which professional actor would you pick to play “Dr. Mallozzi”? d) If / when (fingers crossed) Atlantis gets a fifth season, would you like to see Jewel Staite join the cast as a regular?
Thanks for answering my questions! I’ll be sure to look for Woolsey on the cover of People Magazine soon. So, how do you feel about parabolas?
Joe,
With the Atlantis DVD coming out today (in the States), do you get an advance copy or do you buy it from the store when it comes out on the street?
Kdvb1, you might want to look up the word “penultimate”. It means “next to last”. Not sure Joe is feeling too flattered at this point. 🙂
Joe, when will you start shooting the finale? Any tidbits you’d like to share with us?
Hey Joe,
Have you seen the preview for the “IronMan” movie coming out next year? Boy oh boy, do I think Tony Stark is a Schmuck. Looks like they’re going to bring him alive in all his alcholic, playboy glory. Can’t wait! Hee Hee.
OMG! Ivon is so hot!!!! erm… sorry… you are of course hotter..er
ROLL TIDE!
Answer: “Sure. Everyone got leathers this season.”
Thanks for answering. I don’t have as much of a problem with the Atlantis team wearing leather uniforms as I do with Sam. I realize that Atlantis is not SG1, but after watching Sam for 10 years wearing baggy BDUs (with short hair) I feel like it’s not the same character any more. Sam has gone from short hair to long hair and from baggy BDUs to head to toe leather.
The BDUs were never flattering but they didn’t need to be. Daniel’s BDUs were always a size too big to hide Michael’s muscular body. Sam’s BDUs were never form fitting to show off Amanda’s gorgeous shape. I guess my point is that they didn’t have to dress sexy to be heroes. I’m sorry Joe. I’m not trying to be difficult, but it’s going to take some getting use to for me.
I have an interesting Q,
So, Joe, after the Fourth season of Atlantis has finished shooting, editing and started airing…
Where will you take the blog? In terms of focus. 😛
Will it be, option;
A, The Joe Mallozzi blog concering food, delicious deserts and all the other pleasures of life.
B, The Joe Mallozzi ATLANTIS blog, discussing all episodes aired on Sci-fi.
C, The Joe Mallozzi SPAM blog, humiliating annoying money scammers (one at a time).
D, All of the above 😀
/H
Will season 4 make mention of the fact that the Atlantis team now have another Ancient warship (from The Return pt I) at their disposal?
Hi Joe, it’s not nice having to look after a loved one who is ill (((HUGS))).
I have 2 related questions. I visit GW a lot as I find it easier to navigate that the official site with respect to finding interviews, episode details and photos, but I have noticed that the S3 epi “Common Ground” has no photos listed for it. Were there any photos released to GW (or anywhere else) for Common Ground??
Also, were there any ‘behind the scenes’ photos of Joe F on his skateboard in his “Wraith victim” makeup??
Here’s hoping today was better for you *raises coffee cup and 72% choccie bar*
I was just wondering if the two Stargate films are going to have fancy premiers? Lol
Thank you Michelle for pointing out my faux pas!
*face very red now*
That’s what I get for not looking up a word someone else used and relying on their usage..lol.
I blame Boomer. Sorry Boomer…gotta blame someone..lol.
BoomerGoodHeart writes: While Richard Dean Anderson is the penultimate guest (and will never happen), David Hewlett, Amanda Tapping and yourself are running a close second. If your work schedule permitted, would you be even remotely interested in attending as a guest?”
OK…Joe…please forgive me. I obviously meant you, David and Amanda are the ULTIMATE guests for me!!! And since there are so many definitions for ultimate, I mean this one: the best or most extreme of its kind
Great comment from anonymous about the tone of things on GW.
It’s so true. People don’t become anti just for the sake of it. They become anti if there’s something they see as being bad for the show they’re watching.
You’ve seen that with SG1 (I believe there are even anti threads for the movies!) and it’s becoming more and more the case with SGA.
People like myself, who’ve never been anti anything before when it comes to television, have had it with characters being dumped for no good reason, and other characters/actors being recycled as a cheap way of trying to boost ratings.
You don’t just get dozens of people posting on an anti thread suddenly because they wake up with this brainwashed, collective mindset of ‘this is bad’. This has happened over time
With Atlantis, it started with Ford being dumped, then Carson being killed needlessly and finally Elizabeth being ‘Forded’. Yes, that’s now an official term for fans.
Add to that the girls falling out of their dresses, tempting Shep at every turn, and wall to wall McKay, and you have plenty of things to piss people off.
You’ve got rid of two of the best characters in the franchise by dumping Beckett and Weir.
You have an SG1 fandom where there are Carter fans who despise anyone who likes Jackson, Vala, Mitchell, anyone seen to have done ‘their girl’ wrong.
By adding her to the Atlantis lineup, you’ve just transported all that crap to another show.
I won’t copy and paste what the last anon said in relation to GW and the ‘anti’s. However, I wanted to put my opinion into the fold, and say that those who have already formed an opinion on season 4, without even giving it a chance are nothing more than close-minded individuals. They belittle those that want to watch and enjoy the show and are the most vocal in the fandom at the moment. Although there are only a few of them that are ‘staunch anti’s’ I ask them, how can they possibly ‘hate’ something they’ve never seen, never given a chance, and are so determined (even those that have watched the first two) to go in with a pre-conceived notion that it won’t be anything but a poor excuse for a show.
It used to be your favorite show at one time, and if that’s changed, fine, move on. Storing up all that hate for so long is not good for anyone, particularly you. It really wouldn’t matter if Weir was brought back for 19 episodes or Beckett back for 19 episodes it still wouldn’t change your minds, because you’re so filled with animosity and determination to hate something, nothing anyone says will suffice.
It’s very sad that you can’t move with the changes, but why punish everyone else for enjoying something? Is your life that boring that the only way you can have some excitement is to stamp your desires and your hate onto others? Sorry, but irrespective of any oppressive comments you try to make. I’ll actually go in with an open mind and make a decision for myself instead of being ‘Lemming like’ and following the pack.
Hi Joe..!!
I’m facing a BIG dilema here and was hoping you could give me a little piece of advice…
I am a 17 year-old argentinian aspiring filmmaker wanting to study in the US (or maybe Canada), would you mind naming a few good, affordable, 4 year colleges??
Thanks for taking the time, I really appreciate it..!!
I was watching First Strike again yesterday and it reminded me of something that popped into my head when I watched it the first time:
Martin.
Putting the gero into dangerous since 1977.
I can see it on a t-shirt. Too corny?
😉
ogb.
Re the comment from anonymous number.. whatever: ” I ask them, how can they possibly ‘hate’ something they’ve never seen”
I’ve seen ten years of Carter, thank you very much. I know I don’t like her.
Therefore, I will not like much of season four because it features her.
It’s as simple as that.
If I was saying I don’t like season 4 based on the two seconds of Keller we saw in season three, that would be one thing, but having seen ten frigging years of Carter, I certainly don’t want to see more of her. She’s my least favorite character in the franchise, closely followed by Teal’c. And look who the next SG1 star working on SGA is…
Bacon Flavored Chocolate?
ROFL…..I think I just read one of the funniest things ever posted on here. “It’s very sad that you can’t move with the changes, but why punish everyone else for enjoying something?”…..ROFL
For the last several years Sam fans on G.W. have complained *ad nauseum* about the leadership issue, no RDA for their Sam/Jack ship, Vala the whore, Cambo the incompetent, the Bori, the awful writing, Daniel’s been changed into Jackson, how bad seasons 9 and 10 are, Coop and the boys, they don’t know what to do with poor Sam etc…etc…etc…….
And now some of those same fans are complaining about the Stargate movies before they have even seen them. They are ASSuming that they will hate one or both.
G.W. has had so much hatred from this small group of Sam fans – led by their leader – that a lot of fans that really enjoy the show and the changes have left the forum or simply lurk and don’t post. And the Anonymous that said that all that crap has now been transported onto another show is 100% right. But Joe’s a smart guy. If he’s done his homework he should already know this.
So glad to hear that McKay will be the center of attention in 21 of your 20 upcoming eps, (don’t you just love sci-fi & that crazy math?) cause he IS the reason I watch the show!
Answer: That’s very kind of you and I’ve heard plenty of great things about Dragon*Con but I’m pretty certain it would conflict with my work schedule.
*Whines piteously and sulks*
Well, since Sequential Tart‘s 10th anniversary is being celebrated mostly at San Diego’s Comicon next year, I guess I have two reasons to go there now. (Provided I get enough work! Argh! Anyone need an artist? Anyone? Bueller? XD)
Firstly, I’d like to apologise to Joe on this…because I find myself with an incredible urge to get on my soapbox. Which is bad. So whilst I really don’t want to growl at anyone, I’m afraid I can’t help it…sorry Joe!
To all you pots and kettles out there…for crying out loud!!! This is the real world. What you are watching is a TV show – a very good TV show but still fiction nonetheless. And the thing with a TV show is that it can’t be the same forever. Changes have to be made. Sometimes it’s because crew/cast want to move on. Sometimes it’s because the PTB want something changed. Sometimes it’s because the show is in danger of dying out. Whatever. Change happens.
Yes…some changes can be combated – like Shanks leaving at the end of season 5 SG1. And the Save Carson Beckett campaign (which I agree with…he’s a lovely character) which has done us all proud in its tireless adoration.
HOWEVER people…just stop with the bashing of everything that doesn’t meet with your personal perfection! So you didn’t like the changes in Seasons 9 and 10 of SG1…fine! If you don’t like it, don’t watch it. Or watch it but stop bitching about it all the time. If you didn’t like the changes in Atlantis, fine. Same suggestion. But please! Could we all remember that we are not pre-high school/in infants and this is NOT a playground and this is not about who stole who’s Transformer/Power Ranger/My Little Pony/Barbie/Action Man etc!
I happened to LIKE Cam Mitchell. I LIKE Vala Mal Doran. I LIKE that Daniel seemed to take over, student following the master, from O’Neill in the snark awards. Yes it was different. Yes I was worried. But at the heart of the show, nothing had changed and I was happy to accept that there were little changes having to be made. You can’t force someone, whether cast or crew, to stay when their lives are moving on. It’s not right. And no amount of griping can change that.
*sighs* I’m sorry I felt I had to say that…but I’ve watched this whole thing for a few years now and seeing a bunch of anonymous comments dragging the old crap onto Joe’s blog just really ticks me off. Guys, this is not a forum. It’s a place to touch base with a great writer and dedicated producer of a show that we all profess to love. So please, take the animosity and bile somewhere else. This is not the place for it.
*gets down from the box*
Sorry Joe…it takes a lot to make me snap. My sincerest apologies for doing so on your blog. And my apologies if I’ve caused upset to anyone else – please understand that I’m simply tired of seeing the Stargate fandom almost at each others throats.
Sorry people…
Dreams
Hey joe, I can understand that work conflicts with blogging, so ill keep this down to a standard “I-really-really-thank-you-for-your-level-1000-legend(ness).
Keep up the good work, Oh, and tell Baron Destructo he’s late for dinner, kay?

I’ll do you one better – you’ve got an SG-1 fandom where there are Daniel/Action Jackson fans who despise, hate, wish death upon Carter, and who malign the actress that plays Carter, simply because of their wild imagination that Carter takes away from Daniel/Action Jackson screen time. Thanks goodness you did NOT transfer any of that hatred onto SGA by including Daniel/Action Jackson.

You ARE kidding right? You liked the show so that means anyone who didn’t should stop watching or keep watching but shut-up about their opinion on how wrong the show went in seasons 9-10? Please tell me you ARE kidding.
(BTW – you must have been watching a completely different show than I was because after 8 years of watching every episode and then trying to get through season 9’s dreck I gave up so to each his own and if I want to say I hated it and why (Mitchell, Vala and Action Jackson being a major part of it) than I darn well will)).
There now I can step off of MY soap-box, thank you very much!.
