Two more terrific 2025 crime reads….
Leo by Deon Meyer

Girl Falling by Hayley Scrivenor

So I’m juggling three pitches. Going out with that action-adventure series. Preparing to go out with that cozy murder mystery series. And finalizing a pitch for a series adaptation of that cult horror(ish) film series. Like most introverted writers, I am, of course, at my very best conveying my ideas in a structured, rehearsal public performance format.

Thanks for the book recommendations!
Thanks, Joe. Putting them on my reservation list at the library. I’m currently reading The Invisible Life of Addie La Rue – a young woman bargains for immortality but is cursed to be forgotten by everyone she meets.
Cheers, Chev
The Girl Falling book reminded me of a true story that I read about a murder in Grand Canyon where a man and his wife were hiking in a fairly remote area below the rim and the wife “fell” on a particularly steep spot. Suspicion was raised as when he made his way back to the rim he went to take a shower and if I remember right get a meal before he even went to report the “accident”. Anyway, it was deemed an accident at the time for lack of evidence, but sure enough he confessed eventually. I’ve hiked by the exact spot near Page Springs off of Horseshoe Mesa and while it’s indeed extremely steep off the side of the trail, the trail itself is quite secure. You’d HAVE to be pushed.
Anyway, it was weird walking by that exact spot where a murder indeed had taken place years earlier.

Add this to the list of things I would never do!
LOL! I did find a picture online of that section of trail. It’s as steep as I remember.

No, thanks.
I meant to add – good luck with the pitches!
