Unknown-1

We have a ship, Captain, First Officer, Science Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Engineer, Ace Pilot, Negotiator, AI, Security Chief, Away Team Leader, Helmsman, Enforcer, Techie, Resident Alien, and Unlikely Ally. Next, the search for our ship’s Shuttle begins!

I continue to be amazed by the Stargate fandom.  Two weeks after the cancellation announcement, and they’re still as energized and active as ever.  I do believe Amazon underestimated the fans.  Will it all make a difference in the end?  I don’t know.  It’s likely a longshot, yet there’s no doubt in my mind that those execs have taken notice.  It reminds me of back when Dark Matter was cancelled and the fan backlash was so strong that Syfy called an emergency meeting to discuss damage control.  They considered making a public statement and ultimately elected to stay quiet.  Eventually the furor died down.  Eventually.  But this time…feels different.  The Dark Matter fandom was small but organized and very angry.  The Stargate fandom, on the other hand, is surprisingly large, incredibly well organized, and even angrier.  We shall see how it all plays out…

Finally, I was reading that MOU agreed to by the US and Iran. Is it just me, or are points #7-#11 kinda wild?

  1. Iran must surrender its enriched uranium. It’s ACTUAL enriched uranium and not powdered Cheetos like the last time.
  2. IAEA inspectors shall be granted unannounced access to all declared nuclear sites, heavy-water production plants , and that one facility y’all keep insisting is “just a really big aquarium.”
  3. Iran may not charge extortionate or predatory transit fees unless they meet global standards by renaming them a carbon tax.
  4. The US will unfreeze all currently frozen Iranian assets including bank deposits, securities, and the inventor of pistachio Skittles who has been in suspended animation since 1983.
  5. The US and regional partners will develop a mutually agreed plan of at least $300 billion for Iran’s reconstruction and economic development which will include the construction of two amusement parks, the Jurassic-inspired Tehran-a-Saurus Gardens and the Star Wars-themed Ir-Andor.

Thank you for sharing with us!

  2. This really is shaping up to be a dream team of characters! Would definitely watch such a show.

I wish I had more optimism about Amazon’s reconsideration of their stupid decision. The fan response has been amazing and much bigger than it could ever have been for Dark Matter, but on the other hand Amazon is a much larger, indifferent, and organizationally sclerotic company. But… maybe it will work? Nothing happens without trying, for sure.

As far as the “agreement” goes, I’ll believe it works when I see it and good luck to Iran on counting on that group of chuds to uphold any agreement anyway. A pox on all their houses, really. The most notable thing about all of that is the 300 billion “investment” fund. From whom and going to where? Fair bet that it will be full of corruption. An author/journalist who I respect for calling all of this over a decade ago, Sarah Kendzior, said recently that the mistake now is thinking in terms of nation-states when the real issue is the oligarchy. Basically whether the US “wins” or “loses” this war is immaterial to their interests if there’s money to be made from either.

    Anyway, don’t get me started!

  3. Yes, Stargatefans are one of a kind. While we don’t have the biggest numbers, we have the dedication. The incredible oversight of Amazon, however, is the ability and willingness for Stargatefans to pay for what they love. While we don’t have the numbers, we do have the money they would want. Especially if they compare it to the target group they are aiming for now!

    Also:
Had Trump not pulled out of the JCPOA in 2018, others would not have had to pay with their lives for his political education… Funny how now he is desperately trying to basically reinstate the same agreement (You skipped the Fruitloops part though)!
That being said: I would definitely want to go to Theran-a-Saurus Gardens!!! Especially if there was an old white guy walking with the help of a stick!
