In the words of Akemi: “Dennit!”. Between all the traveling back and forth between the convalescent home and my mother’s home, I forgot to upload a Thursday blog post. So consider this a catch-up entry.

Convalescent home?? Ok color me officially confused. Need an update. Didn’t you mention your mom was returning home from CBT a month or so ago?? And Andria was arranging a hired care taker??
We ultimately decided it would be best to have her in a home with 24 hour care but are presently on a waiting list.
I think between you and Andria, you will make the right decision. While she is in the 24-hour care facility, just make sure you all are very visible and keep an eye on your mom and those helping her. Here in the US, those that have no family to oversee and check up on them sometimes get ignored.
I also learned what all the places had to offer… for me! One place had free ice cream. I would wheel both of them into a cute little “ice cream parlor” where they had little tables and decorations. The ice cream was in individual single serve containers. We all enjoyed that. I learned where the public vending machines were. My dad loved Pepsi, so I would stop and pick him up a bottle. It was the highlight of his day.
I think you have to be happy there too. It’s half the battle. Hopefully your mom will like it also. I bet she does fine. She worked for a long time and would not have done that if she didn’t like being around people. I think it will be good for her and maybe make some new friends.
BTW: Do please try to take care of yourself and not stress so much. More than a couple of us have said it before, (including yourself to others) If you need to cut back to one entry per week while you and your family are going through this – no worries. We luvs ya and will still be here. xo
P.s.s How’s Sharky doing? Any more problems with his stool?
