Fargo (2014 – 2024) Season 3
Follows the lives of a couple, Ray Stussy and Nikki Swango, who, after unsuccessfully trying to rob Ray’s wealthy older brother Emmit, become involved in a double murder case.
My thoughts: Not quite as strong as the show’s second season, yet nevertheless a quirky and compelling character-driven story.
4/5
The Sopranos (1997 – 2007) Season 2
New Jersey mob boss Tony Soprano deals with personal and professional issues in his home and business life that affect his mental state, leading him to seek professional psychiatric counseling.
My thoughts: A fantastic season that introduces the menacing likes of Furio and Richie Aprile while also bringing back one of my favorite characters, Janice Soprano. Brilliant.
5/5
Mob City (2013)
1947, Los Angeles. Cop Joe Teague walks the line between the LAPD, led by William Parker, and the mob, led by Bugsy Siegel.
My thoughts: Torturously over-stylized to the point one might be excused for assuming it was a parody. Inflicted only six episodes on the viewing public before taking a well-deserved dirt nap.
2/5
Murder in Provence (2022)
Antoine Verlaque, Investigating Judge in Aix-en-Provence with his romantic partner Marine Bonnet, investigates the murders, mysteries and dark underbelly of their idyllic home in the south of France.
My thoughts: While I really did enjoy the character dynamics between the husband and wife investigative leads, the mysteries were just okay.
3/5
Get Shorty (2017 – 2019)
The adventures of a mobster-turned-movie producer in Hollywood. TV show based on Elmore Leonard’s novel and subsequent film.
My thoughts: If you liked the movie, you may find this series mildly inoffensive. Or you may hate this sluggishly executed, terribly miscast series that feels like it’s trying to be Fargo but comes up woefully short.
2.5/5

“Fargo” is one of my favorites. I even love the movie. It’s not for everyone. However, “Fargo” is one my go-tos when I’m stressed or tired.
I haven’t seen The Sopranos. I’ll have to give it a go sometime.
Murder in Provence is something I’d probably go for. I don’t have BritBox right now but maybe, later. Roger Allam was excellent in “Endeavor”. If you haven’t seen Endeavor, I’d recommend that show. “Endeavor” started out strong but the later seasons weren’t my favorite. Not everything has to be a conspiracy. Sometimes, a potato is just a potato. It’s still a good watch, though.
Lately, I’ve been binging “Episodes” with Matt LeBlanc. It’s hard finding a show that surprises me but Episodes frequently goes were I didn’t expect.
Columbo, I save for a family watching time. It’s very good!
Happy Sharky Sunday!
