On June 14, 1998, two men fishing on Fox Lake, Illinois tossed an M-250 firecracker into the water – only to have a wind gust push their boat over the firecracker just before it detonated. The boat sank, one man drowned and the other managed to swim to safety. pic.twitter.com/FVgYXLbKPJ— Joseph Mallozzi 🏴☠️ (@BaronDestructo) August 9, 2023
The explosive bat cave story might be an example of this article about intelligent people: https://www.forbes.com/sites/travisbradberry/2016/05/17/8-ways-smart-people-act-stupid/?sh=72adf258515e Smart people are more prone to silly mistakes because of blind spots in how they use logic. These blind spots exist because smart people tend to be overconfident in their reasoning abilities. That is, they’re so used to being right and having quick answers that they don’t even realize when they’re blowing it by answering without thinking things through.
The last story is an example of the opposite problem with intelligence: a couple of “Bubbas”. That’s we call them in the South. On second thought, those bat excrement experts could have been foreign Bubbas.
The dryer story…I’d have to see the dryer but it sounds very suspicious.
I have to corral the cat up and take her to the vet for routine shots. Looking at her (Lucy’s) past records, I can’t believe she’s already 9 yrs old! Where does the time go?
Big plans for the weekend?
I hope this strike is over soon so your projects can get back on track.
👋🏼
I grew up boating on Fox Lake every weekend until I left home at 18. I have always said, after living in Tennessee for the last 50 years and having visited every state east of the Mississippi River, that there is no redneck like an Illinois redneck. They are the dumbest, grossest of all hick types, especially involving M80 and above type fireworks and supposed “fishing”.
