Earlier this week, Suji attended her first physio session at Four Paws Rehab and Fitness.

Our poor gal was actually quite anxious when we rolled in and chatted with the tech, shifting around in her stroller and looking around for the nearest exit.  Had she been a little more mobile, she probably would have made a break for the door but, unfortunately for her, walking has become impossible of late.  Fortunately for her, that’s why we made the appointment!

We dropped her off for her hour long session that included laser therapy, exercises, and some hydrotherapy (featured above).

When we picked her up, she let us know she was…displeased.  Then returned home and slept for a day and a half.

Being told she has to go back this Wednesday!

  1. Does she have to go dad? She’s really old.

One thing I regret with my 95 year old dementia dad is making him get up at 7:30 am each morning to start his day. Breakfast, nap, lunch, nap, supper, then up till time to go to bed at 9 pm. I hoped a routine would help him sleep through the night. But about 3 or 4 nights a week he would not sleep well and wanted to remain in bed in the morning because he was tired. I’d give him 30 more minutes but sometimes he was still tired. I don’t know. I just think I could have let him do more of what he wanted to do and not worried about it so much. Now that I don’t want to get up every morning at 7 am anymore. It would be terrible if someone made me…

  2. Ah. Poor Suji. Soothing ear rubs n smoochies. xo
She’ll probably remain miserable for her first four hydro-therapy sessions before she and you see any significant improvement. My guess is, (if you and Akemi are willing to go that extra mile for her), with consistent weekly hydro therapy over ten-twelve weeks, it should at least help her enough to enable short un-assisted walks.

  3. Did you see any improvement with the rehab? Chance is hard for us older ladies. 😉

  4. I’m trying to emulate the lady on Great British Bake Off who was the Keep Fit Enthusiast who exercised while she baked, getting my steps in while I’m cooking feels good, Yesterday just taking three quick flights of stairs knocked had me winded. That little Lamb Chop is just too cute, combined with Suji and flowers it’s beyond adorable!
