  1. Excellent choices. You should have put the SG1 version with the words! Hard to beat the Goldsmiths for amazing composition and orchestrations though.

  2. Nice to see Voyager make the list. I often myself skipping intros after a while when binge watching shows but I rarely skip the Voyager one. Space 1999 wins the grooviest theme tune! I’m rather partial to those of Babylon 5’s season 4 and Farscape.

    1. Bebop is an amazing show well worth diving into, or you can wait for the life action version coming hopefully this year.

  3. I’ve never even heard of “The Wild Wild West”! I will have to check it out!

I find the opening themes for Voyager and DS9 pretty slow and dull and the visuals for DS9 even duller! I like the shows, just not a fan of the titles.

Doctor Who is great, although I’m old school and like the themes from my youth in the ’70s and ’80s.

I like the “Red Dwarf” theme, especially from series 3 onwards with the rock’n’roll instrumental version of the end credits song.

My all time favourite is the opening to “The Tomorrow People”. Gives me chills every time I hear it!

  4. Wild Wild West was sci-fi?? The only ones that come to mind are:

Stargate Atlantis because it was awesome!

Star Trek original series because I liked to sing along.

X-Files because I liked to whistle along.

Twin Peaks because it is hauntingly beautiful:

  5. I’ve watched all of these except #1. Cowboy Bebop. My husband, Bruce, would say THE TIME TUNNEL and THE INVADERS were his two favorites. My favorites are the STARGATE franchise, STAR TREK franchise, and FIREFLY. Of course, I always looked forward to watching DARK MATTER. I’m enjoying THE MANDALORIAN but the STAR WARS franchise history/characters/plots/etc. have become so complicated – it’s getting a bit overwhelming. I watch to relax. I watch to be entertained. I can always turn the channel to the HISTORY CHANNEL if I’m in the mood for a documentary on the history of whatever. STAR WARS is getting to be too much for me which is disappointing.

  6. Check out the theme song to the recently ended Sci-fi show “The 100”. I believe it changed some over the 5 years it ran, so check out the early seasons. I believe Amanda directed an episode or two, and the actor who played Martouf, David JR Bourne, had a major role in the final 2 seasons.

  7. We loved the Wild Wild West intro as kids, forgot all about gathering around a big square black and white TV to watch the reruns as kids. Deep Space Nine is terrific, as is Voyager. My fave now is Ludwig Goransson’s music for The Mandolorian, the eerie theme for Raised by Wolves and The Expanse.

  8. I agree on a lot of those on your list. I would add:
    Farscape
    Firefly
    Battlestar Galactica(newer version)
    Batman: The Animated Series
    Gargoyles
    Poltergeist: The Legacy
    Seaquest DSV
    Star Trek: The Next Generation
    Transformers(80’s version)
    The Untouchables(90’s version)
    Viper(2nd and 3rd seasons)
    Warehouse 13

  9. I’ve watched all but Cowboy Bebop. We just finished Futurama and loved it! I asked my son about another like it and he suggested Disenchantment. Disenchantment is ok but it’s no Futurama. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5363918/

We watched Space 1999 recently and it was difficult to watch getting through it. It just didn’t hold up.

The Wild, Wild West brings back good memories. I used to love that show! The remake was cringe worthy.

  10. There are some great themes on your list…. I love Space 1999! Another Gerry Anderson production with a theme tune I really like is UFO – It’s worth a look if only for the seventies ‘fashions’ – lurex bodysuits and military string-vests! The theme kind of reminds me of Hawaii 5o.
(…and hubby and I LOVE all the music from Sweet Home!!)

  11. Jonny Quest. Available on HBO Max. But don’t bother with Season 2 in case you haven’t seen the show. The theme is killer.

  12. OH! Good and interesting question!
In my opinion, Firefly theme and Farscap should have been somewhere in the top 10! With Stargate, Star trek deep space nine nad others among your choices.

  13. I forgot to ask but do you have any recommendations similar to Futurama? Something funny, light, witty and not too obscene would be our only requirements.

    1. Hmmmm. Similar to Futurama? Off the top of my head, no. There have been other animated sci-fi comedies, but none anywhere near as good.
