Window of Opportunity won the title in the SG-1 championship. Who will take it for SGA? By the looks of the early votes, it’s going to be close.
And, once we’ve crowned our champion, we will, of course, be moving on to the Stargate: Universe Greatest Episode Tournament! So start weighing in with your favorites!
Sadly, it’s looking less and less likely that we’ll be going to Japan this year. I’m hoping we can get there next January – in time for the annual Salon du Chocolat – but that’s all schedule and dogsitter dependent. And, at the end of the day, the latter is far trickier than the former. Taking care of two special needs seniors aint easy – especially not for 10+ days. And then there’s also the fact that Suji seems to suffer from separation anxiety. She was noticeably thinner when we picked her following out L.A. trip and she really let me have it – barking incessantly at me from the back seat the entire drive home. Lulu, for her part, seems to love the time away, connecting with other dogs and people, but Suji is definitely a daddy’s girl.
We might try to get away to New York for a couple of days as Akemi has been inspired to visit thanks to repeated viewings of Sex and the City and Million Dollar Listing New York. Charleston, Savannah, and New Orleans have also been circled as possible vacation destinations. I wonder if the dogs like étouffée“?
Hey, looks who’s in town. Akemi and I got together with blog regular Jim Lawson for chocolate, ice cream, and more chocolate. Good times!
I am in chocolate and ice cream heaven, thank you and all were delicious with key lime and pop rock chocolates getting special note! Thanks for the meetup, good times!
Hey, we could meet you all in Savannah over Christmas week!
We’re all going down to spend Christmas with the family and we’re planning to spend some time in Savannah while we’re there (it’s only about an hour from the family homestead). You should see the lights along Bay Street and River Streets at Christmastime!
And, of course, there’s the food. Where else could you get foie gras & waffles along with shrimp an grits! 😀
Hi Jeff. It’s great to put a face to your name at last! 😁
I visited the https://www.startrektour.com/ last time I was in the state of New York, an amazing recreation of the original Star Trek series sets.
NYC would make for an excellent mini honeymoon! Fly in December 4th. Stay at The Plaza. Eat dinner the 1st night at the hotel. On December 5th. Take a 30 minute carriage ride in Central Park followed by Lunch at Tavern On The Green. After dark, head to Rockefeller Center to see the giant Christmas tree all lit up and watch the skaters as you dine in their restaurant overlooking the ice rink. (make restaurant reservations before you leave TO if at all possible or get there much earlier than your planned meal time to put in your name for a window seat overlooking the rink.)
While you could show up to watch the tree lighting ceremony & show on the 4th it unfortunately gets waay too packed with people and it is difficult to get much of a view unless you have VIP/bench area tickets, which are sold out many months in advance.
Next day, there are soooo many choices!! Head to Little Italy and SPQR for sweet delights. Or Uptown to 5 star restaurants near Ed Sullivan theater as well as those on Madison Avenue or to unique artistic cafe’s in the village and all around SOHO. (check out Prince street area of SOHO for unique upscale cafe experiences). Or Catch a comedy show or live music event in the Bleaker street/Washington Square Park area. Or Take a tour of The Met. Or Lincoln Center. Or the U.N. Catch a show At Hayden Planetarium. Live stage on Broadway. Or A ride on the Ferry to Statue Of Liberty, followed by a second ferry ride and romantic upscale dinner over looking the water at a dock side restaurant in Staten Island. A jaunt to the delicious hole in the wall pizza places and deli sandwich heavens in Brooklyn. An ear popping elevator ride to the top of the Empire State Building. Xmas gift shopping on 5th avenue. Get tickets to be a live audience member at the filming of fun game show or Sitcom. Or just wing it and go tour famous architectural sites like Grand Central station, checking out whatever restaurants and sights are in the area.
No Japan??!? Noooooooo … I’m sad.
