So, which were your favorites?
Hey! Happy Dark Matter Day!
Wow what a plethora of pretty painted covers! Stuart Immonen is always great, his style inspired by Adam Hughes, who’s also got a cover in this bunch. Another artist not pictured, Steve Rude, obviously inspired In-Hyuk Lee who really captures emotion well in his faces, much like Rude does. Classic fine line and almost photo-realistic (which is my favorite form of comic art. The Brits capture that style well (Chris Weston, Dave Gibbons, Liam Sharp et al) and so do the folks from Asia. So glad that fine line is back and commonplace. In the 80’s and 90’s it seemed artists of this style were few and far between, with a lot of books looking like somebody was in a hurry and pages were bereft of detailing. While some of the comics today are very complex in the art, it’s always nice to have clean, sharp lines and a return to painted covers pioneered by Gold Key in the 1960’s, Always look forward to Wednesdays as you remind me to grab the best books. We share about 90-95% of the same collection preferences.
I have to say my favourite is that bottom one. Happy Dark Matter Day!
Otherwise, that very first Spider-Man one is cool. Perspective!
I agree with gforce, I love the last one!
But apart from that one I think I’ll choose the first Amber Blake…. and that’s probably because she looks like a cross between our beloved BossLady Two and Solara Shockley
Oh and a Happy Dark Matter Day to you!
I had to stare at Hawkman for a bit before it came into focus, very nice. I need that Dark Matter logo on a tee.
