July 30, 2017: Rob’s New Series! Dark Matter = Scifi Fun! The Dark Matter Season 3 Blooper Reel!

Sundance TV Picks Up Unspeakable Miniseries

From creator/showrunner Robert C. Cooper of Stargate, Dirk Gently, and backyard woodfire pizza fame!

This has been a passion project of his for quite some time and it’s nice to see him finally get that green light.  Congrats, my friend!

Speaking of green lights…still waiting for word on that fourth season renewal for Dark Matter.  I expect word sometime between this week…and the end of September.  So let’s finish strong and help swing the tide.  Watch, tweet, tell your friends!  Dark Matter returns this Friday (9/8C on SYFY and Space Channel) with our feeliest episode yet!

At the end of the day, this article is what it’s all about – or, at the very least, what I wanted the show to be all about from its early beginnings:

Dark Matter: Making SciFi Fun Again

“The shows are very different in terms of premise but one way they’re very similar is in tone. One of the things I loved about writing for SG-1 and Atlantis was the underlying sense of humour in both shows, and that’s something I set out to recapture in Dark Matter. In addition, after all the action and adventure, the Stargate shows were very much about family. I think it’s much the same way with the Dark Matter crew. They are mercenaries, this galaxy’s most-wanted, but, when all is said and done, they’re family.”

I talk about “Isn’t That A Paradox?” with Kelly Townsend of The TV Junkies:

“My writing partner Paul [Mullie] helped out a lot with the little twists and turns. He’s Mr. Science and Logic, so we went over the script together and found those little moments. I always love a good time travel episode as long as it makes sense within the context of the episode. There are so many different ways to do time travel, you just have to choose your version and be true to it. That’s what we set out to do. As always, it offers an opportunity for humor. It was the best of both worlds.”

I talk about our last episode and a possible season 4 with Aimee Hicks of SpoilerTV:

“I don’t know if you want to call it a cliffhanger or not, but it certainly opens the door to a “Holy Crap” Fourth Season for the show. So you know it, sets things up and sends things in completely different directions that we have never done on the show, so hopefully, we’ll get to bring that to you.”

And, while we’re on the subject of fun, check out the Dark Matter season 3 blooper reel:

  1. I’m still hoping my hopiest for that S4 renewal! I simply can’t imagine that it wouldn’t be.

Great news for Rob! I’ll have to check his show out when it makes it to air.

    I loved the blooper reel!

Just back home today from New Hampshire and my week of hiking and helping fill-in at the huts. Pretty busy week, but it was enjoyable nonetheless.

  2. I can’t say that I’m hoping for Dark Matter or Killjoys. That would imply that I have doubts about something I know will happen. I’d put it as something I expect to happen at some point in August.

I’ve only really expressed hope that the Fridays shows have good nights. And for the most part all of them pretty much have.

  3. omg, I’m always chasing a stray hair around too. I look crazy, just like Two, all day long! Grasping at the air for invisible strands. The ones that drive me the craziest is a hair that is hanging from my elbow. I look like a spaced-out drug addict trying to find those.

I always wondered how Zoie Palmer can keep such a straight face. Now I know…. she can’t. 😆

  4. One of the things I like most about the show is that sense of family… I loved that about SG-1… I hope you get to do all 5 seasons because I truly think this is the show that can dethrone SG-1 as my all time favorite…

  5. if Mr. Cooper ever wants to raise money, he could offer a pizza party at his house. Yum! Congrats Mr. Cooper!

  6. I hate to ask but how do i watch that “matters”? I have so many options but which one shows your bosses that YOU ARE IMPORTANT?

  7. Hey Joe, look.

    Killjoys: 722k viewers, 0.22 18-49
    Dark Matter: 693k viewers, 0.17 18-49
    Wynonna Earp: 574k viewers, 0.13 18-49

What a recovery. Good job to all you amazing Nielsen viewers out there for helping the show surge to a high in viewers!

  8. I’m super happy looking at these numbers, what a great night for Killjoys & Dark Matter. The Nielsen viewers really came through for everyone.

  9. Wow, I hope the US will get to watch Unspeakable. Sounds like we will. I’m sorry that happened to you Robert Cooper. I hope you have it either under control or its gone. Will head over to FB too.

My friend Wendy contracted hepatitis C but she received treatment and is recovered. Now unfortunately she has cancer. And a child with autism. And a single mom with another child. She was on American Idol. She is a social justice warrior. I admire her and her struggle every day.

@randomness That is indeed a great sign.

    LOVED the blooper reel.
