So, in addition to my work-work (reviewing and revising a pitch deck, revising a couple of scripts, etc.), I’ve been plotting out what I’m calling the Amalgaverse episodes featuring our (soon-to-be) 20-strong crew and their interstellar adventures. I’m having a ton of fun and am currently about to beat out the fourth act of Mission 5. The original plan was a 10 mission first season but given how things are going, I’m thinking of doing a full 20-episode first season with a mid-season break, just like old times! I have three springboard ideas waiting to be fleshed out. Here’s hoping I have 12 more ideas in me.
One of the challenges I face is in rolling these adventures out. The plan is to post here and an on X, setting up every step in the story and presenting you all with choices that will propel the story in different directions. The majority vote decides how we proceed and each update will also include an “Our Adventure So Far” summary for anyone playing catch-up. Since I’m drawing from several t.v. universes, I’ll have plenty of visuals to (hopefully) draw from, but am thinking of supplementing the more story-specific moments with visuals created through Grok or Claude. I am, unlike a lot of artists, anti-AI as I believe that, realistically, it is the future and we can either learn to use it responsibly or get left behind. As a creator, I love the prospect of having the tools to create my own film or series that doesn’t make me dependent on some creatively devoid suit. Of course, that doesn’t mean using it to create images or video of actual people, but more alien concepts or original location interiors/exteriors. Thoughts?
On the other hand, I’m all for supporting artists and am putting my money where my mouth is, having informed my producing partner on this limited series horror comic that I’m willing to bankroll the project myself. I’ll foot the bill for the illustrator, inker, letterer, and any other associated costs to get the book out in early 2027. More news on this as it starts coming together.
Speaking of comics books, I came across a few of my favorite comic book SFX the other day –
Looks like we’ll be heading back to Montreal in mid to late September.
Hoping our floors will be done by then.
