Over the course of these 10 years of daily blogging, I’ve gotten to know quite a few of you, mostly here on this blog but, some of you, in person. There’s Gary (aka gforce) who has dropped by Vancouver on his innumerable nature hikes, Jeff W. who has kindly helped transport my dogs on their annual cross-country flight, and Jeff’s wife Barb who took Akemi for a memorable trip to the aquarium the last time she was in town. This weekend, all three were in Toronto to help mark this blog’s 10th anniversary!
They – in concert with other blog regulars – presented me with a commemorative plaque, a bottle of super smooth Nikka Coffey whisky, and THIS spectacular model of The Raza that lights up a half dozen ways (built by Jeff) –
Sub-light!
Firing engines!
Shields!
And they didn’t leave out Akemi or Bubba and Lulu. Check out the Christmas-themed toys and outfits!
A great lunch and interesting dessert (still not sold on that rosemary ice cream) with great people.
Thanks to Jeff, Barb, Gary – and all the rest of this extended blog family!
Nav calculations complete. Jumping to FTL…
Wow! Who made the model?
So glad you enjoyed lunch and your presents Joe!
Your anniversary tribute post was partially handled by you today, so thank you! Thanks for sharing pictures with everyone of lunch and JeffW’s amazing Raza.
Here is @GForce’s Periscope of the present opening:

@baterista9 the Raza was lovingly designed and created by our very own blog regular @JeffW. Amazing, right!?!
KathyC, thanks for sharing the periscope link. What a lovely gift JeffW. such talent all around.
You have no idea how much I wanted to be there, too. One of these days. 🙂 @JeffW I only wish I had one-hundredth of your skill and expertise. I can’t even put a 3-D puzzle together. That’s great about the Christmas presents for Akemi, Lulu and Bubba.
@Gforce Thank you, thank you for doing the Periscope. I wanted to be able to see it happening since I couldn’t be there.
WOW! What wonderful gifts! Love that Raza model.
I don’t know of any other blog or blog family that would do this you know. That means you are special to us Joe & Akemi, Lulu and Bubba and never forgetting Jelly & Maximus.
Thank you and congratulations!
@JeffW that Raza is amazing!! You are so talented! And the other presents for Akemi, Lulu and Bubba are so cute!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for the periscope session of the delivery of “the gifts”. OMG Jeff W! The Raza is amazing!! Just a heads up, we all will want one now! Who knew bubble wrap could be so troublesome? It’s a “side” gift in itself. Seriously, I can’t leave a bubble unpopped. It’s addictive.
Looks like Akemi has something to dress up Bubba and Lulu in.
All in all, I’d say it was a success! Well done! Thanks to everyone involved for all the hard work. Nice being able to put a name to a face.
You guys did a really wonderful thing!
Aww, congrats on the 10year blog celebration! I’ve been reading since you started and admire you for keeping up with it for so long through thick and thin and everything else. 🙂
Awww, that is really fantastic! Wow. WTG Jeff W!
And thank you for 10 yrs of blogging.
That was beautiful. The joy and excitement on yours and Akemi’s faces made my day. Awesome job with the Raza Jeff. The Periscope was awesome to wake up to… great job Gary. It’s great to see all of you.
Cheers, Chev
That is very cool 🙂
It was a wonderful day and very much an honour to be here to help celebrate this anniversary with you, Joe and with Akemi. I alway enjoy meeting up with you guys so much. And so great to meet JeffW and his lovely wife, Barbara. Top notch folks!
Congratulations Joe! 10 years of daily blogging is an amazing achievement!
That model looks great!
Oh, and Jeff, put me down for one of those Razas! How much do you sell them for? 🙂
@Joe:
We had a great time with you all yesterday. Smiles and good times! And yes, that Nikka Coffey Malt Whisky is smooth! Now I’ll need to see if I can find another bottle for myself back in Chicagoland! 😀
And a big thanks to the “Blog Anniversary Committee” for putting this all together. There was a lot of behind the scenes work to coordinate this (thanks Drea!) and the result shows. This was very much a team effort and all done to show our love for Joe, Akemi, the dogs, and of course his blog!
@gforce:
It was a joy meeting you yesterday as well! Technology is great at connecting people, but it will always fall short of the bonds made when meeting in person.
Safe travels today, and I hope we meet up again soon!
Line Noise:
There might be some copyright issues heading into mass production, but maybe Joe can help smooth that out? 😉
Blog Anniversary Committee 👍
@JeffW The Raza is just amazing!
And @gforce, thanks for the Periscope, it was great being a part of the presents being opened.
Marvelous! That little Raza is an incredible work of art!
All because you are worth it, Joe 😊
Thank you for sharing your life/time with a brilliant blog!
Thanks Drea and blog team! Great result!
AWESOME! AWESOME! AWESOME! Thank you, thank you, thank you. 😀
Happy Blog Anniversary, Joe!
@JeffW – That is awesome! You are soooooo talented. But I must confess, I want to lick it. I see JeffW’s name…, I think dessert…, and white chocolate. It looks like white chocolate… is it? Are you sure? Joe, lick it for me and let me know how it taste. Okay? Okay.
Sometimes I can see Periscopes, sometimes I can’t. This one I can’t. Happy Anniversary Joe!
Happy 10 blogversary! I do not get to check in often but I always enjoy myself when I do.
How cool is that Raza!?
That is amazing, JeffW!
Ditto the thanks for allowing us to be there for the party via video. It was great to see (or hear) Joe, Akemi, Jeff, Barb, and Gary. Thanks to Drea, Kathy and all other coordinators.
Joe, you’ve not only given us terrific science fiction, but by daily sharing your life, a blog family of friends who are every one of them fabulous people.
HAPPY BLOGVERSARY!
P.S. Thanks also for making us your portable family, and taking us with you wherever you go.
So much coolness going down in Van! Congrats to Joe on the Big Ten and cheers to the wonderful folks who created the amazing tribute. That Raza model is very cool. Mind the blink drive, you could end up in an alt universe with no donuts, or where Lulu and Bubba run a TV show and you are the pets.
