Whoa.  You thought your job was rough.  Check out actors Anthony Lemke and Alex Mallari Jr., nursing their wounds after a particularly brutal second season:

In retrospect, I guess the production SHOULD have sprung for those stunt doubles.

Well, I spent the afternoon in editing today with the incredible Ben Wilkerson, working on our penultimate episode (Episode 25: Sometimes In Life You Don’t Get To Choose).  To quote from the email my writing partner, Paul, sent last night after screening the episode: “Phew, that’s some ending.”  Oh, hell yes, it is!

Tomorrow, I get on the phone with the team from Syfy International – about 40 individuals representing various broadcast regions – to talk about the show’s second season and what we can do for YOU the fans.  And all you need to do is tune and spread the word.  Dark Matter premieres July 1st on Syfy, Syfy Spain, and SpaceChannel; July 2nd on Syfy Australia; July 4th on Syfy UK; July 11th on Syfy Germany.  More premiere news to come!

Over on my dedicated Dark Matter twitter account (@DarkMatter_show), the BTS pics continue to come fast and furious:

Meanwhile, over on Reddit, I continue my Stargate: SG-1 reflections:

Worst.  Pitches. Ever.

And, while we’re on the subject, I offer up tips for that t.v. pitch:

  1. Ahh, who needs stunt doubles? Scars are sexy….Right? I have been spreading the word about season 2 as much as I can. Me & my friends are already planning our premier party. We are so glad it’s on a Friday night here in the states. DVR & watching it several times is gonna be a late night!

  2. I confess I wasn’t following DarkMatter_show but I am now!!! Can’t wait for July, but it will be here before we know it.

  3. TheOtherOne: I’m glad you found something that helps! I get regular migraines but with Ocular migraines, I usually don’t feel any pain. My vision is obscured and it usually clears up in thirty minutes or so. I completely agree about not driving with a migraine though! I had a car wreck during a bad migraine once. I carry Imitrex with me everywhere!

Kathy C: Several times a day? Wow! I don’t have diabetes, so it’s probably not my blood sugar. You’ve had your eyes examined, right? Oh and how can you tell when one is coming on?

Those wounds look so real. Your making up artists are good! At least, I hope it’s the make-up artist that’s responsible. Although, sometimes I read about stunts going bad. Did you hear about the accident on “Maze Runner”? Poor kid: http://uproxx.com/movies/the-maze-runner-death-cure-dylan-obrien-on-set-accident-injury/

  4. Yikes those wounds look so real!!

Tam I have been pre-diabetic on and off for about 5 years, so I try to watch my sugar intake as much as possible. Doesn’t always work. 😀 As for the ocular migraines, my eyesight gets what I call “weird” when I look at a computer or tv screen (which I pretty much stare at most of the waking hours of the day, between work & home.) I don’t see “right” – then a few minutes later, here comes the wiggly line, all tiny and scrunched up, waiting to grow. I’ve mentioned to to both eye doctor and regular MD, and there is pretty much nothing I can do about them. The endocrinologist (who is also my diabetes doc) was the one who suggested I test my blood sugar when I get them. They seemed to come after eating a large amount of sugar. The one I got this morning though…was after my morning coffee, and no food. Just put half & half in the coffee, no sugar.

  5. TheOtherOne My migraines are not debilitating, happily. It’s totally in the eyes, and once in a while I’ll get a headache afterwards, but not often. They pass within 15 minutes, so if I see one start when I am driving, I have plenty of time to pull into a parking lot until I can see clearly. The line starts out tiny, in the middle of my vision, then grows bigger and bigger and rises up. So once the line if long and high, I could drive if I couldn’t wait for it to finish. My mother in law & sister in law get the really bad kind. Black room, no sound, in bed under the covers, throwing up…and looks like my niece has inherited them too. She started them around 12. My 16 year old used to get them, but when we took preservatives like nitrates and nitrites out of his diet, they’ve all but gone away.

  6. Three & Four, I’m sure, are just two of the reasons why there’s a new doctor in town this season. Still loving the pics! Glad to know you are hard at work preparing S2 for viewership!

  7. @Kathyc
I too get the ocular migrane, its a very strange sensation and hard to describe. It starts off as a small dot then grows into a semicircle moving out towards the edge of vision. I did find a picture which quite closely matches what it looks like on the way through…

I don’t have diabetes or anything like that that I know of. Nothing specific seems to trigger them but they dont happen that often. From that web page above if you have had your eyes checked out doesnt appear to be serious…(here’s hoping for you)

  8. Alright! Alright! Alright! Jeez! I don’t Twit very often, but I’m now following @DarkMatter_show K? K. =)

That must have been some bad a** mother that did that to FOUR. (No offense to THREE as he’s more of a Bubba kind of guy.)

July 1 it is! Still almost 2 months away. I guess I’ll just have to hang in there. And binge season 1 on Netflix.

  9. (oops, sorries. previously posted under wrong blog entry. please delete other)

So Joe… Dont know if ya heard yet?
There’s a rather strange rumor going around
that Canadians actually enjoy and embrace violence.
That you weirdos across the border even feel a certain quiet
inner joy and pride after enduring a serious physical beating.

When I first heard the rumor I immediately dismissed it
as utter nonsense. “Someones ridiculous idea of a kinky joke” I said.
Albeit, then I came across this photo
and wow! It really gave me pause!

This guy looks waaay too happy for someone who
just got the holycraps kicked out of him!

    😀 😀 😀 😀

  10. Will be madly working on some “DawgPlay Cosplay” dog coats to sell at KeyCon next weekend, starting tomorrow. Of course there’s a girl in this dorm who *thinks* that when she wants me to sew something up for her, I’ll drop *everything* and do it. I am so tempted to haul my sewing machine to someplace on campus (that is NOT in rez!) to do my sewing…. when I get some of them done, I will post them someplace, but as there’s a lot of Whovians, Trekkies/Trekkers, Star Wars fans, and Potterheads who want to have the chance at seeing these things (I am honestly hoping they *BUY* some though!!), that’ll be the order of the weekend!!!

Thanks again for having this blog going so I have something to read on a daily basis. It helps me with focussing on my own goals, as crazy as that may sound (I am NOT going to be making DawgsPlay Cosplay dogcoats forever, lol)…

  11. Yikes. But knowing our characters, I hate to see what happened to the other people.

@TamDixon Wow, I had not heard about the Maze Runner set accident. I hope he is going to be okay. Concussions are serious things. Ask jorie74.
