September 30, 2015: Win An Sg-1 10th Anniversary Framed Photo And Keychain!

Feast your eyes upon the glory that is the 10th Anniversary MGM giveaway which includes a gate-framed photo of the team that started it all AND an SG-1 keychain in its original flimsy silver paper and cardboard box!

This can be yours if you are one of the first to correctly answer the following five SG-1-related questions.

Like yesterday, to ensure a level playing field, I will hold off on approving comments…unless I forget and accidentally do so anyway, like last time.

Ready?  Okay, here’s goes…

Actress Jennifer Halley, who played the part of Lt. Tolinev in season 5’s The Tomb, had also been up for (and just missed out on) another role in season 4.  What was that role?

Who does the character Grell, Teal’c t.v. counterpart, quote at the end of Wormhole X-Treme?

What was my one and only onscreen line on Stargate?

What guest star’s scheduling conflict in the episode Summit resulted in a wholesale second draft rewrite?  And who did we replace their character with?

In Fail Safe, what is Jack’s response to Sam’s bomb-defusing instruction: “Now find the wires leading from the timer to the detonator and cut the red one.”

Congratulations to yesterday’s winner of the SG-1 compact, Kathy C!

And good luck to today’s contestants!

  1. Because of winning the coasters, I’m staying out of any further of these contests, but I will say of your one and only line – it was your chance to shine and you NAILED IT. 🙂

  2. -Jennifer Hailey
    – Science fiction is an existential metaphor, that allows us to tell stories about the human condition. Isaac Asimov once said: “Individual science fiction stories may seem as trivial as ever to the blinder critics and philosophers of today – but the core of science fiction, its essence has become crucial to our salvation, if we are to be saved at all.”
-Hey! What happened to all the donuts?
    – Martouf/JR Bourne. Replaced by using only his symbiote/Lantash and a new host (Courtenay J. Stevens/Lt. Elliott)
-There are five wires, and they’re all yellow!

  3. 1. Jennifer Hailey (Prodigy, SG1 4×19)
    2. Isaac Asimov. (Awesome line)
    3. “Hey! What happened to all the donuts?”
    4. I’m assuming you mean J. R. Bourne, whose Martouf was replaced by Lt. Elliot (who died too quickly)
    5. “Carter… They’re all yellow.”

    4. J. R. Bourne (Martouf) / Lieutenant Kevin Elliot

  6. Hello Joseph Malozzi,

I hope I have answered your questions right.

1.) Dr. Svetlana Markov (played by Marina Sirtis) on the Episode “Watergate” (Season 4, Episode 7)
2.) Grell: “Science fiction is an existential metaphor, that allows us to tell stories about the human condition. Isaac Asimov once said: “Individual science fiction stories may seem as trivial as ever to the blinder critics and philosophers of today – but the core of science fiction, its essence has become crucial to our salvation, if we are to be saved at all.”
3.) “Hey! What happened to all the donuts?” (“Wormhole X-Treme”; Season 5, Episode 12)
4.) Martouf (played by the great actor J. R. Bourne) was originally meant to appear in this episode (so survived the events on the episode “Divide and Conquer”) and was replaced by actor “Courtenay Stevens” as Lt. Elliot as a new “host” for “Lantash”
    5.) O’Neill: “Carter… they are all yellow!”

By the way great job on “Dark Matter”, which is my new favourite scifi series after Stargate and Battlestar Galactica. Can’t wait for season 2 and keep up the good word and your blog.

    Greetings
    Phil

  7. 1: Hailey, a young version of Carter, Episode, Prodigy.
    2. Grell quotes Isaac Asimov who said: “Individual science fiction stories may seem as trivial as ever to the blinder critics and philosophers of today – but the core of science fiction, its essence has become crucial to our salvation, if we are to be saved at all.”
    3. Joe’s only line: “Hey! What happened to all the doughnuts?”
    4. J.R Bourne was the guest star whose scheduling conflict caused all the problems.
    5. Carter… They’re all yellow.

  8. Yay me! 🙂 I too will refrain from answering any more…unless there is something super awesome that I just can’t resist!! haha, just kidding. They are all super awesome.

  9. My kinda educated guesses:

    1. Prodigy (as Haley?)
    2. Isaac Asimov
    3. “Hey, what happened to all the donuts?”
    4. J.R. Bourne(Martouf) replaced by Courtenay Stevens(Lt. Elliot). I had to cheat and look this one up. I guess it was written was so well that it never really bothered me that it wasn’t Martouf.
    5. “They’re all yellow!”

The one I had no real clue on was number one. But I figured the name similarity was a small clue.

    -Mike A.

  10. Those questions are hard. I don’t know the answers and I feel like it’s cheating to look them up. I’ll leave these questions to the die heart SG fans. Got a giggle out or your comment unless I forget and accidentally do so anyway, like last time.. Reminds me of “Shrek”. Thank you, gentlemen. Someday I will repay you, unless of course I can’t find you, or if I forget.

Thanks for doing these contests Mr. M.! I know you must be super busy writing and preparing for the move. We appreciate you!

  11. 1. cadet hailey
    2. assuming you mean end of wormhole x-treme the show, which is actually in the episode 200, where he quotes asimov
    3. “hey! what happened to all the donuts?”, in wormhole x-treme
    4. martouf’s host’s actor, j.r. bourne, replaced with a snake in a jar. Or lt. elliot’s actor, courtenay stevens
    5. “carter, they’re all yellow!”

  12. Jennifer Halley was up for the younger Samantha Carter role

“Science fiction is an existential metaphor, that allows us to tell stories about the human condition. Isaac Asimov once said: ‘Individual science fiction stories may seem as trivial as ever to the blinder critics and philosophers of today — but the core of science fiction, its essence has become crucial to our salvation, if we are to be saved at all”

    “nailed it”

J.R. Bourne was booked and replaced by Courtenay J. Stevens playing Lieutenant Kevin Elliot

    Carter, they’re all yellow

  13. I got nothing except the last one, they’re all yellow. Loved Wormhole X-Treme by the way with Peter yelling “Bigger” & Micheal with his “it’s what we do” & “go for Marty” when he answers his phone. Great fun episode. I will answer my phone when feeling particularly nostalgic, “Go for Maggie”.

  14. Yay…both Joe and Alex reported that Dark Matter is on Netflix.
    AND…it is….wooo hooo.
So easy to access and have a binge watch while we have to wait for Season 2.

  15. I want that book with the light-up chevrons and the dvd’s in the back. That up for grabs, or are you keeping it?

  16. Cool keychain, but only a hamster could fit through that tiny gate. I hope the next giveaway is puppet Teal’c with action staff. I’m feeling the painful effects of too much caramel popcorn; I’m looking forward to bland broth at lunch.

  17. Ugh iPad wiped my answers. I’ll try again.

    1. Jennifer Halley in Prodigy, later renamed Jennifer Hailey

    2. Isaac Asimov

    3. Hey! What happened to all the donuts?

    4. J. R. Bourne couldn’t reprise his role as Martouf. The character was replaced by the symbiont Lantesh, with a new host played by Courtenay J. Stevens (Lt Elliott)

    5. Carter…. They’re all yellow

    Cheers, Chev
