Whoops.  Got distracted so yesterday’s blog post is late.  By about 12 hours.  Which means you can expect a double dose of my ramblings today.

The Crime Binge continues with eight more international crime shows…

Seen any of the above?  What did you think?  I’ll be weighing in with my thoughts once I finish up closer to week’s end.

The only thing these declassified UFO/UAP files prove is decades-long government deception and systemic stonewalling.

I don’t know.  Maybe they’re slow rolling disclosure, eventually working their way up to the more revelatory reveals but so far, this aint it.

What do you think?  Is the truth out there?  Or is it a bunch of nonsense?

So I’m thinking of doing a different sort of watch-a-long/marathon.  I’m thinking of calling it “Sci-Fi 3” and what I would do is dedicate a week to 3 sci-fi films from a random year.  One would be the biggest sci-fi blockbuster of the year.  Another would be the best reviewed.  And the third would be a film of my choosing.  So, for instance, 1974 we could watch Sean Connery strut around in his far-future brief-briefs in Zardoz, check out John Carpenter’s debut feature Dark Star, and maybe Phase IV, the high-concept cult classic about super intelligent ants, then convene and discuss here and maybe somewhere else (X space?  Youtube?).

Thoughts?

Yes! Yes! Yes! Hurray for Sci-Fi 3! Whatever you decide, it’s a win-win challenge!

  2. From what I know of those UAP/UFO “revelations” it’s a big meh. I go by the philosophy that extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Now, if they were floating the release of the Stargate program, that might get my attention! As fun as it may be to think about, I don’t think we’re being visited by aliens. Given what we know of physics so far, it would be a tall reach for intelligent alien life to reach here. Still, I’m open minded and also I’m sure we don’t have a full understanding of physics, so… maybe?

We love your ramblings Joe! Ooo ‘ello! I haven’t seen this one, haven’t seen any since the tic tac and the Catalina Island ones. Is this one fake news… not saying a word about the orange one… best ask Mulder Joe! T2, Aliens, Matrix and Brazil are the films that I loved back in the day and still do

  4. I’d participate (energy permitting) in a sci fi movie re-watch with ya.
And if you do it on a Saturday evening maybe you could invite some of your neighbors over for a once a month movie night and social media, chime in type, discussion.
With dumplings, cheeses and writers tears to make it even more enjoyable.
Or some movie night gatherings could be sweet desert treats and and that amaretto type Italian liquor you had taken a liking to a while back.

I remember, back during your DM production days, your cast and crew seemed to really enjoy the movie night get together at your place.

Of course, it would naturally mean you’d have to try and find a large cheap flat screen tv online you could place on a table/desk against a wall (to hook your laptop/internet to) for viewing the movies in a group. (if you do not already have one??)
Albeit, not likely too much of a hassle or expense.
I see even the Walmart site sells ’em at a reasonable price.

Could be much fun for all?

  5. Your Sci-fi watch sounds interesting. I look forward to your recommendations but haven’t you seen every older Sci-fi flick one out there? Or are you talking about a rewatch? If that’s the case, Alien/Aliens, and Jaws holds up.

No worries about ramblings. You blend right in the rest of us.

Some are rewatches but there’s plenty I haven’t seen.

      1. I actually don’t remember if I have ever seen Zardoz or Dark Star back in the day.
If I did – I no longer recall any details, what-so-ever.
so for me, it would be like a first time watch.

BTW: if you decide you might wanna give a go at movie review night once a month with a couple neighbors, it’d actually be pretty easy to do – even in your small apartment.
You’d set up a flat screen tv on a stand against the interior patio door.
Borrow some chairs or pick up some cheapo fold up beach/lawn chairs
        at a local discount store.
You only need two-three neighbors to make it a fun evening and decent movie review conversation.
        You’d all watch the movie.
Afterward you’d log on yo your JosephMallozzi you tube account to share thoughts live, while enjoying cocktails.
Your friends wouldn’t even have to appear on camera
and could even use nicknames for the evening instead of their real name if they want.
They would just need to speak up clearly enough from where ever they are sitting
for their opinion to be heard via your laptop microphone.

  6. Well, I totally missed the Sci-Fi watch thing and I would be on board with that! I’m not on Twitter/X anymore so YouTube live stream would work great for me.

  7. The Blue Book military files at the National Archives show they only took the military sightings very seriously even in the 1950s but they also classified those reports until the 1980s to protect the pilots. They would task whatever planes they had from B-52s to fighter jets to chase them and had radar teams tracking them, then would report those military events to the top brass in full detail while giving the Air Force public affairs a briefer harmless version of civilian sightings that only the tabloids would bother covering in their usual trashy style.
I’m glad pilots, generals, congresspeople and the media are finally all asking for these files, it’s fun to watch things finally come out and I hope future tranches include more interesting cases and even something definitive. It’s all very SG-1 season 1.

  8. I tried His and Hers, it was so unbelievable that I gave up, I’d rather watch Worlds Worst Ex with real tales of truly unhinged dating that have police bodycam video as proof of all the crazy.

  9. Count me in! I’ve seen both Zardoz and Dark Star in a theatre (not original release but at a 24 hour sci-fi movie marathon). Never heard of Phase IV, though.
