What do you say?
Conversely, what is a country you have long considered visiting that you have recently wiped from your travel wish list?
For me, it’s Sweden.
Meanwhile, in other news today…
Plus ca change as they say.
Well, Day #6 of my Montreal stay and these dogs are driving me absolutely nuts. If so much as a bird lands in the driveway, they go absolutely nuts, barking at the slightest provocation. Today, my mother had visitors and the dogs barked incessantly, from the moment they stepped in the door to the moment their car backed down the drive. I tried sequestering them in the kitchen, putting them outside, downstairs, spraying them with water, and absolutely nothing worked. In time, it really frays your nerves. To top things off, my sister’s dog, Ralphie, hopped up on the bed and peed on my laptop case. Thus his sleeping-on-the-bed privileges have been revoked and he gets to spend the next few nights out in the hallway.
Three more days and I’m back home with Akemi and the relatively very quiet Sharky.
Don’t forget that, tomorrow, our Columbo rewatch continues with season 1’s second episode, “Death Lends a Hand”. And it’s a good one.
Finally, been thinking of switching gears and bringing back the monthly book club discussion. One of the possibilities was choosing a classic sci-fi book from every year – say, starting with 1970 – and doing a dedicated blog post and discussion. What do you think? Would that interest you? And would a book a month be a reasonable pace?

Oh, sorry the dogs have been difficult 😬. Hopefully, they will settle down or if not, you’ll be home soon. “There’s no place like home.”
How is your mom feeling?
Tomorrow, I’m heading to Nashville for the weekend to visit with friends.
My mother is the same. At this point, it’s all about pain management.
Have fun in Nashville. Prepare a list of the top 3 things you eat while you’re there!
Oh and a “maybe” on the book club.
A book a year, maybe. I haven’t had the focus to read a book in a couple years. I am also backed up on jigsaw puzzles and Lego sets. Oh, and office work.
I can’t wait to get to some of my favorite episodes! Not telling which ones they are! BTW – how many seasons are you doing? Better do my favorites! 😀

At present, doing the first two seasons of Columbo
Hmmmm…I might have to request specific episodes, then.

Oh…PS…
The dogs. Isn’t it better to let them be with the guests until they accept them and shut up? Basically (and according to The Far Side), the dogs are just saying, “Hey, hey, hey!” and they’ll keep doing it until, in true doggie custom, you let them sniff your nethers. (At least with cats you only have to let them sniff your finger – if they even decide to grace you with their glorious presence.)

Yes, ideally, but a lot of people are nervous around barky dogs.
Yes to book club as proposed.
I’m not a dog person so constantly barking dogs drive me up the wall! I just assumed dog people were immune. Glad to hear it’s not just me!
I’d be keen on a book club as my knowledge of classic sci-fi is sorely lacking. I only read hard-copy so please give me some warning on the reading list so I can order books to be delivered. I’m also a slow reader (I read in bed and fall asleep within a few pages!) but I’ll try my best to finish it in a month.
Nothing’s worse than a barky dog or a whiny child!
As to the country I want to go to, but can’t….I am WAITING to go to St.Petersburg to walk the Art laden halls of The Hermitage. I refuse to enter Russia until the war (that they started…FU Donald!) is over.
Curious question, why not Sweden?
It does not appear to be a particularly safe place to visit
Well, yes, and no, we have had a few “bombings” but that is gang related, there are 2 big gangs fighting but they are basically just buying bif pyrotechnics from eastern Europe and fire them in apartment entrances, there is basically only material damage. We had a school shooting, but that is the first in a while, like, I’m 47 and don’t even remember if we had one before. We had a suicide bomber like 10 years ago, but he only managed to blow himself up.
I don’t know how the reporting about it is in Canada, but, it feels like it is exaggerated if it scares you.
If you are OK going to the US, Sweden is no problem at all.
Is it safe for women to visit? I have also heard the number of assaults on women has gone up.
I don’t have the statistics but, it is nothing the news have brought up, I think it is the “normal” amount, that of course is to much since it should be zero, but I have not heard about any rise in that statistics. My women friends have not said they feel more unsafe either so. The biggest worry here right now is what Trump will do to the world, and how we can help Ukraine to stop Russia.
