A snapshot of my Letterbox’d horror ratings – from my favorite films to the movies I’d recommend to my enemies…

I’d say almost 300 horror movies.  At the time, I thought it quite a feat but, fast-forward a year (or two), and I’m approximately 280 shows into my ongoing Crime Binge.  And I’ve been listing my favorites – in particular order – on this thread here:

But plan to do a rundown for this blog.

And just when I think I’ve caught up (a ridiculous assumption in hindsight) I end up discovering a treasure trove of recommendations.  I just added another 50+ titles to my watch-list!

So, what have you all been watching and enjoying?

  1. Binging “Star Trek: Discovery” seasons 1–4. Season 5 premieres today on Paramount + (USA).

  2. Good heavens thats alot!! Do you dedicate a certain time frame for watching movies? Like from 2 to 4 every day?

  3. I’m not a massive horror watcher but of those that I’ve seen I mostly agree with the order of your list. Looking forward to a similar list of your crime shows. I wouldn’t be able to list 200 crime shows, let alone have the gumption to watch them all!

I’ve been enjoying Resident Alien. It’s silly and sentimental but Alan Tudyk is amazing.
The latest season of Halo is much improved over the first season but still lacking.
Star Trek: Discovery has just started its fifth season and is more of the same. I will probably abandon this season like I did with season 4.

Most of my media watching these days is movie and TV reaction videos on YouTube. I’m addicted! I get to re-watch movies with someone who hasn’t seen them before, all edited down to 30 minutes with all the filler taken out.

  4. Watching?

I’ve decided to do a dive into biographical dramas of various famous scientists, inventors/engineers, and artists.
Kicking things off with a look at Leonardo Davinci simply because the idea of him seem to fascinate me in my youth. First up is a mini series interpreting his life as an artist.

Followed by a few movies. Each having a look at a different facet/aspect.
One movie explores his love affair with geometry, aviation, and his passion for
trying to design creative solutions for difficult problems.
Another movie tries to imagine what he was like as an individual and what his actual
(IRL) life journey may have looked like. After I am done traversing the Davinci memorial highway, planning to watch a few stories involving Professor Murray Gell-mann, aka “quark man”, including the series Equinox. Hoping to gain some insights into his imagination and line of thinking. I’m also hoping to find some on screen stories involving physicist Wolfgang Pauli. https://nautil.us/the-synchronicity-of-wolfgang-pauli-and-carl-jung-238037/

Have any scientist, inventor/engineer, and/or artist, recommendations for my watch list?
Preferably, biographical dramas with entertainment value rather than outright documentaries.

  5. I’m going through your list and making my own…

I’ve been watching shows I don’t have to pay too much attention. I’ve been working on a few things and just need something on in the background. So, I’ve started “Episodes” with Matt LaBlanc. It’s actually not bad and kind of funny. I’ve seen a few of “Ghosts” the American version and a few true story murders. So, not much really.

We did rent a couple of movies last weekend: BeeKeeper and Plane. Both were good non stop action. They both had a few plot holes but we had fun watching them.

I went on a Mom visit yesterday and she seems more scattered than normal. Her Dr is trying new meds to help. She’s more paranoid than normal, too. That might be a good thing because she said a couple of phone scammers called her and she read them the riot act. You’d have to be the scum of the earth to scam the elderly but they are out there.

    Thanks for the lists!
